GRiD Game Designer: "Most Exciting Racing Game Ever Made"
Ooooh, we're big fans of over-the-top statements. It proves just how confident a developer is with his/her project, and it also sets the bar super crazy high. Makes for darn good news titles and quotes, too.
According to a ButtonBandits interview with GRiD Chief Game Designer, Ralph Fulton, racing fans are in for one of the best experiences ever. In fact, he says flat-out that this anticipated game will be "the most exciting racing game ever made," and that competitors like Gran Turismo and Forza are more about the "car list rather than the racing."
“We have been desperate to get everything into it we wanted to get into it and I think we’re all really pleased now the dust has settled on it with the product we’ve got," said Fulton. "I think it’s a really exciting racing game, I’d go as far to say it’s the most exciting racing game ever made, it looks stunning and I think were all going to take a well deserved rest after this."
Well, that's certainly encouraging, isn't it? Over 1 million people downloaded the demo, and most sources say GRiD is very promising. Some might say there aren't enough cars in the game, but Fulton has an answer for that, too-
"Yeah I can understand that. When you have competing games like Gran Turismo and Forza, which pride themselves on the car list, they're all about the car list, that’s their focus. I know Turn 10 have been quite open about the fact that Forza is just really a car list. Which is great for them. Does it make sense for Codemasters to try and do the same? Probably not, I think from a number of perspectives. Not least of which is that their doing that already. I think you can put a different slant on a racing game and I think we have done that by making it about racing."
Well, we may have to disagree with ya there, Ralph. Gran Turismo may have a lot of cars, but as any racing enthusiast will tell you, it's all about the realism, accuracy and above all, the racing. Let's not forget that. The amount of money and research dumped into GT5 is absolutely insane, and that level of quality is already clear in Prologue. But we're not taking anything away from GRiD, which could be poised to be a major financial and critical success. Here's hoping!

erm, I cant speak for Forza, but thats not the case for GT5. anyone who has followed the GT games will tell you that. Its just that theyre so well established and have such a production in place that 1,000 cars is possible.
Im not sure about GRiD.. I'll see how it goes, but I wasnt too keen on the fairness of the game myself, but I'll probably have another bash at the demo.
maybe im missing something.

I just couldn't get into it. I enjoyed Ridge Racer 7 more than this, and I wouldn't pick up Ridge Racer 7 if it was the last racing game on the planet.
Where Forza is concerned, I've never purchased any of the additional tracks or cars from LIVE!. I personally see no reason to pay for additions like that. In that sense, Forza is a money machine to dump spare change into. I'd rather put it into something more worthwhile. I enjoyed the game out of the package though.
GT5P on the other hand, is incredible. To say they intend to make the final product better has me scratching my head wondering... "How do you make it better?!?"
As Cartoon Network put it... Forza is a racing games for the casual and masses. They're right, it is! GranTurismo is for the enthusiest who wants a more realistic experience, and indeed it is exactly that!
Honestly, I won't even notice GRiD. The very fact I found myself in an orange Nissan S15 with that ugly wing on the back, doing some wtf drifting was just... Ugh. Gimme Initial D, then I'll reconsider my thoughts on a drifting game.
