Rumor: Street Fighter IV Hits In Winter

Well, we've got the movie in early 2009 - "The Legend of Chun Li" - and we keep hearing a lot of great things about Street Fighter IV. However, despite all the good news, Capcom has yet to provide the loyal fighting populace with a release date. Furthermore, targeted platforms haven't been solidified, although most are assuming the game will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

We may have discovered new details from Joystiq and French blog Jeuxvideo, although we can't seem to nail down the original source (rumors can be tough to trace). Supposedly, Capcom mentioned at some press site that SFIV is going to be available "this winter," and they also confirmed it would arrive for the PS3, 360 and PC. Sadly, nobody has been able to get an official confirmation - or even a response - from Capcom, but this is one rumor that's going to take on a life of its own. Despite several lackluster installments, the Street Fighter name must experience a revival at some point, and we're guessing this new entry will represent that long-awaited resurrection. Right now, we certainly have more faith in SFIV than we have in that Chun Li movie.

Next to Soul Calibur IV, Street Fighter IV would be the most anticipated fighter of the year, if it manages to drop in 2008. "Winter" could mean either late 2008 or early 2009, remember... We hope to have a reply to this rumor within the next few days.
