Rockstar Comments On GTA MMO
Most of you are probably still enjoying Grand Theft Auto IV, especially if you're a fan of the online competition. But what about that rumored GTA MMO? Well, in case you were wondering, it remains a very solid possibility, especially considering the success of online multiplayer gaming these days.
According to a ShackNews interview with Rockstar founder Sam Houser, this possibility may be growing with every passing day. We've been hearing about such a rumor since last year, and remember, MMOs have been immensely successful in the past...can you imagine if they made one with GTA in the title? That ought to spark a major reaction, wouldn't you think? Here's what Houser had to say on the issue:
"A subscription-based Grand Theft Auto-type game...is very, very doable and is a very, very compelling proposition...the combination of what we're doing with multiplayer and what we're doing with the [downloadable X360] episodes is the start of us putting our toes in this water and seeing how our audience...adapts to online."
Rockstar is responsible for the single biggest game in history - in terms of initial sales - so it's no surprise that they may want to expand on the concept. Sure, we figure GTAV is an inevitability at some point, but in order to keep the current craze going, a GTA MMO might be just the ticket. We'll let you know if any new details arrive in the future.
