Street Fighter IV Home Version To Have Exclusive Features
There was a time when most all games, especially fighting games, were far better in the arcades. Playing at home just wasn't the same thing, as any old-school coin-op fan will tell you. However, times have changed drastically since then - resulting in the failure of the arcade, for the most part - and Capcom promises good things for the home port of Street Fighter IV.
Historically, the game is often shown first in arcades and then brought to consoles, which is what's happening with SFIV. However, according to IGN, the publisher wants to remind everyone that the console version will be getting plenty of features that are unavailable in the arcade version. Thanks to an interview producer Yoshinori Ono gave to Famitsu, we have learned that in addition to online play, SFIV for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC will also boast exclusive characters. He didn't go into much detail, but he did say the team is "watching the overall balance" when it comes to making additions to the console version's roster. He also said they won't be including "unnecessary stuff" in the online gameplay...although we're really not sure what this means.
Yep, the days of the arcade are behind us, especially in the US, but that doesn't mean we're suffering. Home consoles are supremely powerful these days, and Capcom isn't about to pass on the opportunity.
