Guitar Hero: Metallica Revealed

Well, this isn't exactly shocking.

Just about everyone is seeking to cash in on the music/video game blockbuster crossover, and an example of that is the upcoming Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, which is scheduled to release at the end of this month. But you didn't think Aerosmith would be the last band to capitalize, did you? Heck no; according to GameSpot, Activision has filed with the SEC to produce Guitar Hero: Metallica, which should become available in "fiscal 2009." Here's the statement from the publisher's report:

"In fiscal 2009, we plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms."

For those who don't know, the fiscal year will end on March 31, 2009, so that means this new GH should hit stores early next year. Much like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, we expect the game to follow the course of the legendary metal band's career, from the smallest venues to the biggest arenas. Of course, there will likely be other music as well, although we haven't seen any confirmed tracks as of yet. Yep, Guitar Hero is bigger than sliced bread, and there's no telling how many more bands will sign up for an interactive go-round with Activision.

I guess Metallica wanted their own game cos they couldn't even bring themselves to allow paid downloading of their music.
Another great game series has become a pathetic cash-in excuse.

I really haven't followed Metallica past the Black album, but to say that band is anything LESS than metal Gods is some form of sacrilege.

"Master of Puppets" remains one of the fiercest songs ever, and Metallica in the '80s and early '90s kept metal alive and well. Few bands have their history in the music industry, so at the very least, we should respect that.

Ben, I'm sure no one will disagree with you that Metallica's music is something to be respected. But the band themselves may be a different story.
I myself loved the band, until i heard Lars Ulrich speak. And then there's the whole downloading issue. I can't respect a rock band that only seems to care about money and not about the music.

That's nothing more than an issue regarding an artist believing something was stolen from him. It can be interpreted in a variety of ways, depending on your position. And in all honesty, I think there's a hint of the Internet community that believes they're entitled to more than they actually are. I really don't think it should alter our view of what they've contributed to the music industry and what they continue to contribute.

After 30 years of music, I think it'd be pretty insane to believe the band doesn't care about it.

I dont like Aerosmith, so I'm not gonna buy it, but if they release Guitar Hero : linkin park or guitar hero : Green day I would buy it.
I'm pretty sure GH:Aerosmith will SUCK!!

Linkin Park is good and the old Green Day is good, but now they are too mainstream "I'm emo now" for me. I'm not into eyeliner on guys. It was cool in the 80's for KISS and other bands but not now. They were soo good before, but just had to switch it up on us like the OTHER good rock band turn emo... Papa Roach. Boo new Green Day and Papa Roach. Dookie, Nimrod, and Warning were awesome along with Insomniac. But American Idiot was so lame...

I agree with Ben's comments on Master of Puppets. Master of Puppets and Justice for All were GREAT albums and deserve the utmost credit in the metal industry.
Anything after the black album can be excused from being "true" Metallica, but the band was incredible before that.

Woah there...i'm 17 and I hate all the crap that is out today...especially Linkin Park and Greenday...

Where did all the good music good...like AEROSMITH, THE BEATLES, LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH, DIO, THE OUTLAWS, PINK FLOYD, BANG CAMARO, SMSHING PUMPKINS, RADIOHEAD, THE STOOGES...and so on...

My god this countries youth is becoming more embarrassing every day...

I like all of those bands Marvel, but... alot of them went to rehab and some died of drug overdose. They are awesome but they created the masterpieces in a drug induced self-indlgence of a fake nirvana (not the band). They are great and will be great, but all the new stuff is "reinvented classics" as some artists call it. They just don't make 'em like they used to. Before bands would work on 8 tracks for about a year. Now a band sets down and says lets make a new CD. The work on 19 songs for 5 months. Not near the work is put into it, but still you have to give the artists credit, they made it and you didn't. Music is life, life is music. It's a long hard walk but I will walk hard...

I guess I'm mid stream, half and half. I do like new music, like rock and alternitive stuff and I also have just as much "classic rock" as my dad and grandfather [put together and my dad does some dj gigs]. You can't forget the ledgends such as Creedence Clearwater Revival with hits such as "Who'll Stop The Rain". Alice In Chains, Anthrax, BTO, The Doors, George Thorogood, G~N~R, Kansas, plus METALLICA, Motorhead, Pantara, Poison, Sound Garden, Stevie Ray Vaughn, STP, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, gotta have the Halen, Warrent, War, White Snake, and zz Top. And to top it all off... I am 19 and have listened to this stuff since the womb. lol. It helps when you are born in 1988 when your mom is 15 and your dad is 18. lol.
