Ted Price Issues Resistance 2 Details
Thanks to a live interview today with Eurogamer, Insomniac boss Ted Price has provided us with a whole slew of new details for Resistance 2, which is one of the most anticipated releases of 2008.
First up, Price says that due to significant "tech improvements made since the release of the first game," the sequel won't have any loading screens whatsoever during gameplay. This is one of the most impressive pieces of information we've heard to date, and Price elaborates-
"We do have streaming of textures and other assets now. Not only does this improve the overall look but it cuts down on load times. In fact, you shouldnt notice any loading screens in R2. Weve also added a lot more tech-wise - detail maps, new lighting system, new effects system, better normal mapping, better specular response, redone shaders and lots of behind-the-scenes stuff that makes the game really stand out aesthetically."
In addition, gamers can expect bigger "levels and chapters," and we might not even see any loading screens in between those, either! "At least that's the plan," Price concluded. He then went on to focus on R2's 8-player co-op in comparison to Gears of War 2's 4-player co-op, and called this a "major differentiating factor" between the two games. There's no doubt that this sequel's multiplayer capabilities will be pretty amazing, and the idea of 8-player co-op should intrigue many a gamer. Finally, Price confirmed that Resistance 2 will run at 720p resolution and 30 frames per second. This may disappoint those hoping for more, but it's not really surprising, especially with the whole no-loading-time plan.
We'll continue to keep you updated on anything new regarding this great PS3 exclusive.

I'm pretty sure the dispute is going to be between MGS4, GTA4 and LBP (that's me hoping that LBP is that good)
GTA4 will probably get it. Because it is the more accessible game, and it's multi-platform.
