MGS4 Midnight Madness At GameStop
The time is nigh: in less than an hour, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will officially go on sale at GameStop and other retailers around the world. Some GameStops are preparing a midnight launch process, and if you want to be part of it, you better get going...in fact, you probably should've left already.
First of all, you may find that the 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle is quite rare and most stores simply don't have the supply to handle the immense demand. According to some inside sources, each store is only getting 2 or 3 of the bundle, and some stores in Europe may not get any due to some shipping issues. Furthermore, just because you got there early doesn't necessarily guarantee you the package; GameStop won't be doing any "pre-ringing" for it. This means you can't give them your money ahead of time, take a receipt, and then give it back to them when the street date officially arrives. Some stores may do this with the game itself, but none will do this for the bundle as they are in incredibly short supply. It's strictly a first-come, first-served basis, so there may be some pitched battles in the trenches outside GameStops at about 11:58 p.m. tonight.
And remember, that MGS4 Limited Edition is exclusively sold at GameStop, so it's your only option for a collectors copy. The other option would be to head over to Konami's online store and try to score the "highly limited edition" MGS4 PS3 bundle - the one with the silver "Gunmetal" matte finish on the system - but they're probably already gone. Good luck to all, and don't get all CQC if you miss out. Let's keep it civil; we don't want to see any violent repeats of the pre-PS3 launch...
