Canada Starts PS3/Wii Preorders
To all of you north of the border: fear not, the games world hasn't forgotten you.
According to a notice posted at the EB Games website, EB Games in Canada will begin accepting limited preorders for the PS3 and Wii on Monday, October 16. Much like the PS3 preorder process earlier this week in the U.S., it will be a first-come-first-served deal, and there is an extraordinarily limited supply. Therefore, Wii-searchers can expect the same obstacles: rapidly disappearing preorders and no guarantee they'll get their system exactly on launch day. In fact, EB is actually recommending that consumers call their local store to check on availability before committing to the camp-out trip.
To preorder your Wii, you'll need C$50 worth of trade-ins or C$200 in cash or credit; there is also a limitation of one per household. At this point, given the similarities, it appears Canada will have to suffer through the same fallout for the PS3 preorders...and apparently, it won't be much easier to secure a Wii.
Meanwhile, U.S. citizens can start preordering the Wii tomorrow. Let the games begin!
