Need For Speed Undercover Revealed

It's one of the longest-running and most popular racing series in video game history, so it's no surprise to anyone to learn that EA is planning another Need for Speed. The last effort, Need for Speed ProStreet, was great, and it helped to restore some of the franchise's lost glory. The next, however, should fully harness the power of the new generation, and we're excited to learn more about it.

According to European game site JeuxFrance, EA has revealed Need for Speed Undercover, which is slated to arrive some time next year. We don't know the targeted platforms, but...well, it's EA; it'll probably be available on every major platform. Details are few and far between right now, but JeuxFrance tells us the game will be based around the style of the film, "The Transporter." This probably means we'll be delivering something from Point A to Point B, desperately attempting to avoid the authorities. It sounds like there might be a bit of Hot Pursuit in this one, but we imagine there's a lot more to Undercover. NFS now has a worthy competitor in the Burnout series, and we're hoping EA can step up and deliver another solid title next year.

As soon as we hear more about this new Need for Speed, we'll be sure to let you know. Perhaps it will pop up at next month's E3; the timing seems just about right.

If they don't slap on "V-TECH" and "NOS" stickers all over everything, I might actually take notice if it's anything like III or High Stakes from back in the day. Just the last several NFS games seem atleast imo, seem more like Fast and The Furious inspired games.

I agree III was fantastic. To be honest though, NFS U 1 and 2 were not THAT horrible. While i like the generally less flamboyant tuner cars the games were pretty fun. I wont even touch the new ones.

NFS Porsche Unleashed was one of of my favorites.

The last Need for Speed was a bit "meh".. and the horrible white gangster theme in Carbon was horrible. Maybe they can turn the series around with this game? I just hope it has free-roam because that was what I loved about the NFS Series.
