Godfather II To Feature RTS Elements?
One would think gangster movies would make for the perfect video game, but for whatever reason, the game needs to be an original (like the Grand Theft Auto series) to be amazing. However, there have been solid efforts with the likes of Scarface: The World Is Yours and the original Godfather, so there's always hope. And now that we've heard something very interesting about The Godfather II: The Game, we're kinda intrigued by this particular sequel.
EA boss John Riccitiello spoke to Next-Generation about their upcoming gangster project, and this is how he described the gameplay structure:
"It's a game that I think we'll be talking a lot about this fall. You can play this game both at the street level, much like a GTA-style game, but you can also play it top-down, almost like you're in an RTS, controlling the strategy of the boroughs so you can see what's going on..."
EA Redwood Shores should be handling the development duties, and while fans of the "Godfather" movies haven't exactly been clamoring for video game adaptations, times have changed. Gaming is just as big - if not bigger - than film, so it makes perfect sense to turn old gangster movies into high-profile interactive adventures. Could it really be a hybrid action/RTS title? As soon as we unearth more details for Godfather II: The Game, we'll be sure to let you know.
