MGS4's First Week In Europe: One Million+ Sold
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the PatriotsIt may not ever reach the lofty sales plateau that Grand Theft Auto IV hit, but it'll certainly be one of the generation's biggest sellers, as recently proven by a Konami press release.
According to the release, the publisher has revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has officially topped the 1 million mark in sales during its first week of availability. Yesterday, we learned that MGS4 was enjoying similar success in Japan, outselling the second-place piece of software by a ridiculous 12:1 ratio. The US? Well, we're still waiting on the NPD numbers, but we're guessing it topped a million here, too. There's no doubt that MGS4 is both the artful masterpiece and financial blockbuster everyone expected it to be.
"The Metal Gear Solid series has again proved its huge potential, and we are delighted with the fantastic response the game has enjoyed at retail," commented Martin Schneider, Sales and Marketing Director Germany for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "MGS4 is nothing short of a masterpiece an epic conclusion to the Solid Snake story. We are extremely pleased with the positive feedback we have received from retail and consumers alike, and will keep satisfying their needs with updates to the games Extra option, and via new content to Metal Gear Online."

GTA 4 has a great story for a free roam, but MGS4 is incredible in every aspect.
MGS4>>>GTA4
but in all honesty im only comparing the story and awesomeness because the genre is different

Please don't get me wrong GTA is good. So in defense of GTA I will say this. We all read the report of MGS 4 b4 it came out the Kojima and Konami had to cut somethings out cause a BLU RAY DISC WASN'T LARGE ENOUGH!!!! A blu ray disc is 50gb! So when u look at GTA its on xbox and PS3 and they're both identical. So think how much more they could've done with the game!

Eitherway glad it did well in Europe... hopefully Konami starts looking into more PS3 exclusives :P
