White Knight Story Pops Up In Japan

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we were once shown the early beginnings of a game called White Knight Story (which may or may not be called White Knight Chronicles now), and it was Level 5's very promising PlayStation 3 RPG. If you've forgotten - and you may have by now - we can jog your memory with this trailer from 2006's Tokyo Game Show. Looks good, doesn't it?

Well, the game has been pushed seemingly into oblivion since then, even though that trailer appears to show a game that's well into the latter stages of development. Today, according to PSBeyond, White Knight Story now has an estimated release date of "FY08," which means it will arrive any time between now and March 31, 2009. Now, as Sony announced this during a "recent presentation in Japan," we have to assume that this release date is only for that territory, which is somewhat disappointing. However, just to have any release date at all is something, and with it, we're hoping to get more information at E3 or TGS this year.

If Level 5 does plan to release the game in Japan first, which is more than likely, the waiting period for North America and Europe could vary. It could be a short wait...or a really long wait. If we hear anything else, though, we'll update this story for all you RPG fans out there.
