Classic PS3 Trio Won't Get Trophies

Even though firmware update 2.40 is currently unavailable if you didn't download it before Sony removed it from their servers, you know about the Trophies that come with it. As most gamers are finding out, these Trophies aren't retroactive, but if you haven't played some of the early PS3 classics just yet, you may have some new incentive to try them them now.

However, as most all first-party titles and many of the more popular third-party games will be adding Trophies in the near future, we're compiling a list of well-known games that won't have Trophies. So far, we've heard from both Insomniac and Infinity Ward on the matter: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and Resistance: Fall of Man won't be getting Trophies. Of course, these games have already been out for a while so this may not affect a lot of you, but it's worth mentioning. You wouldn't want to go back and play through those games for the sole reason of getting Trophies when they don't even exist, right?

We'll do what we can to keep you updated on the Trophy issue, and if any other significant titles will pass on the option. For now, you can certainly expect many of the biggest upcoming titles to have Trophies (like Resistance 2, for example), so there's no need for concern in that area.

So does that mean no in-game music for CoD4 also?

dso8515 > Unless Infinity Ward releases a patch, you won't get in-game music. It seems there have been quite a few patches for CODIV over in the PC world. They PC version will no doubt be improved upon over PS3

Yeah, I understand why these developers won't waste time making trophies in their game.

1. They weren't around when the game was in development.

2.They're busy working on blockbuster sequels to their already blockbuster games.

Its a given that IW wont be patching CoD4, they didnt do it for the dualshock 3,, and i doubt it will happen for anything else either

actually, if it concerns IW patching anything for CoD4 for the ps3, then thats a no. Nothing against IW, but its just the truth. They can be stubborn

I've been playing pain and the trophy system does not seem to act right. It will tell me in game that I have unlocked a trophy and I can see in the in-game trophy room, however it does not add it to the trophy list outside of the game or my gamer profile. Does anyone know anything about this.

i dont think pain has the trophy system on it yet.as for the trophys you see in game,they have always been there since the game came out as far as i know

Well we knew Resistance wasn't getting trophies. (Insomniac announced it almost a month ago.) And it would be really hard to get trophies into CoD4 because people only care about the multiplayer at this point. But I was really hoping Ratchet and Clank would get some trophy love. I'd play through it again for some trophies. Oh well I guess.

I dont care too much for trophies as much as the next person.... but DAMN, i was not happy to hear the Resistance wasn't getting any, if any game gets me into collecting trophies and changing my mind about them, it was that game....

I needed an excuse to play through it AGAIN,first 2 reasons was i was hooked on it, the 3rd and fourth was for my dualshock 3 controllers ( seriously, the bullseye gives massages while you beat the crap out of chimera (-: )

But if they say its for a better cause, i can respect that

Well, I think CoD4 was a given... They're moving back to World War II, thus they prefer to go back in in time instead of moving forward... Giving PS3 users trophies would imply moving forward.

MGS4 and DMC4 are the only 2 games out of 11 PS3 games I've gone through, but the trophies might inspire me to pass through others... With the exception of Sonic, which I will not even bother with.

actually, the cod4 people(infinity ward) sont have anything to do with cod world at war, which is being made by trearch. I think that IW just wants to fucos on their multiplayer for now on.

True enough, but in the end, it's still published by Activision. Makes me wonder sometimes, other than switching between IW and Treyarch, how much influence does Activision have on it... Anyway, you could say my comment was a slap at Activision, not IW.

Personally, I think it's kind of poor judgement to not release even a few trophies for CoD4, considering it's amazing success.

I was thinking the same thing Zapix. I don't know how PS3 sales for CoD4 compare to the likes of GTA4 and MGS4 but it has to be up there. And I know that IW doesn't have anything to do with the new CoD, but a lot of people aren't happy about it going back to WW2, so it seems to me like IW would want to do whatever they can to keep the CoD name in a positive light especially if World at War doesn't do as well as Treyarch thinks it will. And I for one wouldn't mind a reason to have to play through the single player campaign again, it was a lot of fun.

I hope GTAIV does to, once i completed the story i didnt play it at all, which is strange GTA usually has tons of replay value, I hope Lego Star Wars gets it too.
