Rumor: MGO To Get New Expansion Pack, Added Rules

Even if you've already completed Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, you don't have to abandon your remaining urge for MGS action. Metal Gear Online gives you the option to experience Kojima's universe in a whole new way, and the latest rumor is that a new expansion pack will become available on July 17 in Japan.

According to translated Japanese gaming forums (citing information from the newest edition of Famitsu), the pack will retail for 1200 yen, with another option of a 1500-yen pack that gives you a new character slot. Both packs will feature Johnny and Meryl, the ability to make female characters, a new Survival Mode, and three fresh stages: Shadow Moses, Mei Ling's Ship, and the Heliport from the original Metal Gear Solid on the PS1. Furthermore, as of Friday, we can expect a couple new rules for MGO in general: Team Scanning (Teams will be broken up into Sneaking and Defending; the Sneaking team will be able to use the Stealth skill), and Head-Shot Only Kills, which of course will be an optional rule.

We have yet to see an official confirmation on either of these announcements, and we do hope that if they are true, they'll come to other territories besides Japan. Once we hear anything, we'll be sure to let you know.

My only problem is that t seems they are milking us for everything for this online portion. Its fun to me, but paying for an extra character slot? i don't really see the point....

Love the MGS4 single player.

MGO is boring...I don't think MGS was meant for multiplayer.

With the current value of the American dollar, probably like $1200? LOL Actually, while not dead on accurate, what you do is add a > after the second digit on the right, moving to the left... 1200 would be 12.00, 500 would be 5.00, and so on. Again, it's not 100% accurate to say 100 yen is $1, but it's relatively close. From there you're likely to give or take a little. According to a website, right now 1500 yen is about $14.50 USD

Yes, when you log into your Konami-MGO character, you should have the option for it to save your login info.

i wish theyd change the SOP Friendly Fire rule, countless are the times ive thrown a GRENADE! & a goofy team mate will run into it leaving me defenceless!

i kinda wished it locked up on you just for that split second you would have aimed at your team mate, but not last for a good chunk of time. Best example i can think of is Uncharted, everytime you had one of your partners in your cross hairs, it would black out the reticule, disabling you from firing

Ever tried setting up a few clever Claymores only to have a teammate not look where he's going and ruin it? Hell, i even got kicked for his mistake.

that actually is good because it stops stupid people from running around killing their teammates and thinking that they are cool for breaking the rules

Personally, I'm pretty excited about more content for MGO. I think it has alot more potential than CoD4, and I've been enjoying playing MGO alot. Definately see more teamwork in MGO than I do in CoD4.

More game types, more maps, and more of the weapons from MGS4 can only make it better. I hope they continue to work on it.

Shadow Moses and the Heliport in Shadow Moses are separate maps? Is that like a little and large map variant or different areas of Moses?
