Kojima's Top 5 "Most Memorable And Influential" Games
Metal Gear Solid proved to the world - as if it needed proving again - that Hideo Kojima is a master of his chosen medium; a true visionary that has provided gamers with some of the most memorable interactive experiences in history. But as we have been inspired by so many of his productions, perhaps a fair question would be: what inspires him?
According to GameRush Entertainment, the MGS creator has revealed his top five most memorable and influential video games. Some of these may surprise you, but a couple most certainly will not:
- Super Mario Bros. (series)
- Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken
- Xevious (aww...remember this one?!)
- Outer World (long-time U.S. gamers will know this as Out of This World)
- Metal Gear Solid (duh)
Some may see it as a little egotistical to put your own game in such a list, but it makes perfect sense to us. It should be fairly obvious that Kojima's personal efforts inspire him on a daily basis; getting up to work on MGS4 is inspirational in and of itself, yes? Kojima punctuated his list with the following quote given to The Yomiuri Shimbun:
"Games are a composite art that evolves absorbing new technologies. I hoped to 'create a big wave' in the game world."
Well, we can safely say, without any reservations whatsoever, that you have done exactly that, Mr. Kojima. There are millions of fans around the world who would agree, and at this point, it's only about how much further you wish to go. How many more mountains can you scale in a lifetime? In many ways, gaming is still in its infancy, which means Kojima represents the purest definition of the word "pioneer."

As for adding MGS to his list, not at all. I kind of have to agree in the sense if you've created something you're very proud of, and it's not perhaps your own work that inspires you, but perhaps the characters and/or story you created, that goes beyond your daily abilities as a person. If you get what I mean.
I had no interest in the MGS series, not a care in the world for Kojima I suppose, although I knew little about either. After giving MGS4 a chance... I've reversed that statement... New fan? Sure, you could say that!

I know you're young, but it's a REALLY bad idea to hate on the classics amongst people who have been playing games for about a quarter-century... Just a friendly warning. :)

Hopefully he's already working on MGS5.
