Midnight Club: Los Angeles Takes Another Detour

The original Midnight Club was one of the first solid examples of flashy, accomplished, intense, arcade-style racing on home consoles. Most subsequent installments have been great fun, but the next-gen installment won't make it for its previously announced release date.

According to GameSpot, Midnight Club: Los Angeles has skidded past its slotted date of September 9 and has landed on October 7. It's the second delay for the highly anticipated racer, and on this same token, Midnight Club: LA Remix for the PSP has also been pushed back to the same date (October 7). Many of the hopeful Club followers out there had expected Los Angeles to launch earlier in 2008, but Rockstar wanted to get some distance between the game and Grand Theft Auto IV, which is perfectly understandable. This is why the game slipped to September, but why the further delay? Well, for now, nobody knows. All we do know is that it'll be out in plenty of time for the holidays, and even though it may have to compete with some other huge titles (Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, etc.), racing aficionados still need something to play, right?

Hopefully, it'll stick to October 7 - October 10 for Europe - and we won't have to report on any further delays.

Agreed... Even if I do get Resistance 2, Bioshock, SC, LittleBigPlanet and all those other big titles... to be honest MC has ALWAYS been my favorite racing game.... I think it is much better than NFS (Excluding MC Dub Edition and MC3 Dub Edition Remix... Those 2 games where horrible...) Yea I hope MCLA Does much better...But Even so... MC 2 was the best MC and still is... I don't think I will ever stop playing that, unless MC LA provides the same exciting CTF that MC2 provided :)

Tatsujin, did the Midnight Club series of racing games include a damage model previously or not? Is it very arcady or is it quite realistic? Are their similarities to a GRID style of gameplay?

Q!

Midnight Club LA will be good. Just having the Rockstar name sake is a good enough reason to get it. Rockstar is gold right now, other then that dumb table tennis bull that they put out. It's gonna be more realistic then all the other MC's before it. It's a buy...

I thought that table tennis, the real one, was so much better then the game it's self. I did not care for it one bit. I thought that rockstar made a mistake or was trying to be funny with that one.

Yeah ever since Midnight Club 2 I've been a fan of the series. You gotta hand it to Rockstar for taking on the Need for Speed franchise..and winning!

..and still no racing game holds a candle to Gran Turismo.
