Sony's Mystery PS3 Title To Be Unveiled At E3?

A while back, some of you may remember a BBC game journalist sitting down with an early build of a mystery Sony title that left him "speechless." He would offer no further details on the subject, though, so everyone has been left speculating since that time.

Well, several game website members and journalists have been invited to a private preview at E3 where Sony will present a "currently unknown title," and we're instantly reminded of that former quote. It could be any number of titles, but let's hearken back to those words once more:

"All I can say is that I was left speechless. If the footage I was shown truly is in game, as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion."

Now, a little while back, we also got a hint that the August issue of GamePro might include a major feature on Team ICO's PS3 project, which some believe may be a sequel to last generation's phenomenon, Shadow of the Colossus. If you think about it, how many of us were left "speechless" by some of the Colossi in SotC? Remember the level of detail and artistry, plus the overall "wow" factor? Furthermore, can you imagine that on the PS3 made by the same team in the form of a sequel? Yeah...perhaps this is the mystery game. But we're just guessing for now, and the final word won't come until Tuesday, which is the day of Sony's E3 conference.

Any other ideas, readers?

i don't know if it's that game but i certainly hope so =O this will probably start showing the true power of the ps3 like no one else can, and whether it's SotC2 or not, it'll probably be a legendary game. but then again, it could be something none of us expected? a very simple game like pong or something but with a plot =O lol who knows

Well, I have been saying this from the start... I believe we still have to see exactly what the machine is capable of, eventhough MGS4, Killzone2, LittleBigPlanet and GT5 give us an idea of what can be done with a little effort...

I don't understand why people think we're gonna see the "true power of the PS3" anytime soon. The system released a year and a half ago! We won't see what the system is truly capable of for 3 or 4 years still. Things will gradually progress just like they have for every system known to man (and a couple known to monkeys). There isn't going to suddenly be one game that changes everything. One may come in and instantly standout but it won't "unleash the potential of the PS3."

Nah, because Crysis wouldn't leave someone speechless.

I really hope it's something mind-blowing that we have never witnessed in gaming.

Does anyone know the schedule for each companies conferences?

Is Nintendo going on Monday and MS on Wednesday?

Nintendo and MS are both on Monday I believe.

I can't remember if I asked this on this site or not, but is there anyone who is showing the press conferences live this year? Gamespot has done it in years past but i can't see any reference to it anywhere on their site and I heard G4 was but can't find anything on their site either.

Well to toss my thoughts in my bet is that it is Heavy Rain.Quantium Dream are a top notch developer..when you think about it the Graphics of the trailer where top notch and that was what 2 years ago I wana know what crazy things they did to it over that long period of time....Or it could be our Fabled FF13 lol.**Jus my thought what if in this game you had a Playstation Eye and this game made u take several pictures of yourself in diffrent positions and digitalized you into the game and it had a diolauge system like Mass Effect so u could make the choice u would really want That would be so Fuckin Hardcore it would add a depth of character player relation because its you lol...Sry for Rambling lol cant wait to see what it is!!!

I think the game that left the guy "speechless" is Heavy Rain. If so that means the game we're talking about for E3 is something else (keyword: unannounced.) It could be TeamICO's project and in all likleyhood is. But if it were Jak 4 I would be ecstatic to an unbelievable level.

i would lean towards team ico if anything. but disagree with a new jak,heavy rain, etc. the way they make it sound is a mystery title which would make me think new fresh title that has yet to be revealed

I personally wouldn't mind seeing exactly how far Heavy Rain has come since then but really hope it is the team ICO project. I wouldn't be surprised if it was that game Rock Star said was exclusive to PS3 that is supposed to be ground breaking and the next big thing.

I hope its ICO.

Ico is great game. If ps3 getting ico2 it will be agreat game for ps3.

And ico in ps2, the graphic and story is good (for ps2). If this is ICO2, im sure this will have good story and graphic again :D

Whatever Team ICO is working on, I actually hope that it is NOT Shadow of the Colossus 2. They have such incredible creativity and artistic vision that I do not want to see it wasted on sequels that are only updating what they've already made. Give me something new. That's what made ICO and SotC so great to begin with; the fact that we had never seen anything like them before.
