Voice Of Solid Snake Writing MGS Movie Screenplay?

To make a good movie, you need a good staff. That much is undeniable. Perhaps one of the reasons we haven't had many (if any) good game-to-movie adaptations is because nobody ever bothered to hire the necessary people.

Well, when it comes to something like the "Metal Gear Solid" movie, it's basically essential that we get guys like Hideo Kojima involved. And he is, in the role of story writer and producer, and that makes MGS fans the world over hopeful. But there's something else, as evidenced by this IMDb listing: David Hayter, the long-time voice of Solid Snake, is listed as the screenplay writer. Earlier, we had heard a rumor that Christan Bale might sign on to play Snake, but most fans only identify Snake with Hayter, right? He's not a big-name actor, and his voice wouldn't be involved as a writer, but at least he's there. He has been a fixture in the series and he probably deserves a position working on the feature film, which is directed by Kurt Wimmer, by the way.

The IMDb says we can expect the movie some time next year, and with Kojima, Wimmer and the newly found Hayter, there is a decent possibility that "Metal Gear Solid" might actually be something worth seeing.

Well, David Hayter did write the two best X-Men movies (X-Men 1 and X-Men 2). And he did a good job writing The Scorpion King. His writing credibilities are fairly common knowledge, it's also one of the reasons why I have the utmost respect for the guy - he's not a one trick pony.

If there's one person you want writing MGS, it's him.

I believe Hayter wrote the screenplay for the X-Men movie and it's first sequel.
And his acting fanbase is more cult based due to the movie Guyver Dark hero.
Great stuff

There was talk of Viggo Mortensen or Hugh Jackman to play Snake.

Honestly had no idea he wrote the Xmen1 and 2...wish he wouldve done 3 lol. I liked the Scorpion king, it was bad ass minus the same people playing multiple characters XD

I dunno, I sorta want Bale to be Snake...Viggo...hmm I can't quite picture him as the espionage type of character...i see him in more of the fantasy realm thanks to the LotR movies I guess.

i still think he should act in it also. He did some acting back in the past. One movie i liked him in was "The Guyver 2", a more of a sci-fi film. Anyone else have seen this movie or the anime?

I loved Guyver Dark Hero. Fantastic movie. ok, the effects were only a little better than power rangers but it was still a great movie. and far superior to the first film.

I'm really hoping they would have a next Guyver movie. Hayter is the man.

This is old, David Hayter has already written 3 screen plays and all 3 where turned down by Kojima.

Hayter's drafts have been rejected by Kojima on several occasions and it appears likely that the movie will not be written by Hayter. He is however all but confirmed as the writer for the Lost Planet movie.

And I said it before I'll say it again. BALE WILL NOT BE SOLID SNAKE. He's already signed on for two major franchises there is no way in hell he'd sign on for a third. He'll be involved in Batman and The Terminator for the next 10(plus) years. His other movies for that time frame are in all likely hood gonna be one shot deals like Rescue Dawn and The Prestige. He wouldn't sign on for something that is so likely to become a big franchise as MGS.

Does anybody see Tom Jane from the Punisher as a good pick for Snake ? He has the attitude and the look if he grows his hair out a bit. That would be my pick for Snake. I hope they make the flick.

You know if they did a movie about MGS4, they could get Chuck Norris, he's 68 last time i checked, and isn't that the age Snake's body has excellerated to? And plus Chuck has recently given up his beard for a 'stache just like Snake. I'm not just Chuck Norrising around here, I've actually thought this through.

This is conflicting, as Hayter just wrote an open letter to 1up yesterday about a panel he did at an anime expo. He specifically mentioned that he had offered to write the script and was turned down. I can't get the link right now as 1up's RSS feed is retarded.

I only thought the MGS movie was just a rumor, but its supposedly coming out next year? Oohh man if I don't control myself I'll cream my pants.
And btw isn't David Hayter supposed to be Solid Snake's real name, too?
