Paradise Cagney Update Available

It remains one of the best racing games of the generation so far, so you should already own it. If you don't, this latest update should be more than enough incentive for you to finally pick up Burnout Paradise.

As you can see by the official website for Criterion Games, the Cagney update is rapidly becoming available for download all over the world. It'll first go live in Japan and then throughout the rest of the day, it will pop up at various intervals. Here's when the update is coming to your timezone:

  • 9:00am GMT
  • 1:00am Pacific Time (US)
  • 4:00am Eastern Time (US)
  • 10:00am BST (British Summer Time)
  • 11:00am for the rest of Europe

This significant update includes 3 new online game modes, a bunch of new rides, 70 "multi-part, timed Freeburn Challenges," special calendar events, and a myriad of little upgrades and improvements for the original game. Now, we have no idea if they'll ever introduce planes, but for now, this update is more than enough. In fact, by the time you read this, it'll probably be up and ready to go...

Which update is going to bring in new single player challenges? The new cars sound good but if you have to get them through Freeburn count me out.

Adding a bunch of crap. New rides? Who cares there are plenty of cars and they're not all to different from any other in their group (i.e. race stunt etc.) New online modes who cares people only did online to ram each other. "freeburn challenges"? Those things about made me insane they are so redundant and boring.

Not until something like planes comes will I get it out off my dusty shelf and play it.

I traded the game in once I got my A license lol. I couldn't take it anymore to be honest. Way too many cars that were all pretty much the same. At that point I had about 80 (including the revamped versions of the original model, which were, btw, completely useless) and there were still more to unlock. Yeah online was boring and the new crash mode wasn't as much fun as the others. But, hey, that's my opinion. =)
