Square-Enix: "Big Announcement Prepared For FFVII"

The picture to the left is Sephiroth from the movie, "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children." It is not for the long-rumored PlayStation 3 remake of the PS1 RPG classic, Final Fantasy VII. But what if it was...? Yep, it's baaaaaaack!

The rumor has once again returned, thanks to translated information taken from Japanese gaming magazine, Dengeki. According to the beloved character designer for the legendary franchise, Tetsuya Nomura, "a big announcement is being prepared for Final Fantasy VII," and it has nothing to do with the scheduled release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete." The announcement won't come at E3 next week, but at Square-Enix's private party - the weirdly labeled "DKS3713" - in August. Okay, so we've heard promising stuff like this before; it gets us all worked up and hopeful, and then they reveal some PSP spin-off or something, and we're all disappointed again. So it's probably not a good idea to start believing in what many are saying is the impossible, but...we can't help but cross our fingers once more.

We had heard earlier this year that Square-Enix had more to announce regarding FFVII, but they never issued any details on the subject. Since that time, the remake rumor craze has died down, but now it's back in full force. Could this really be it? Could the remake we've all wanted for years become a reality?

We all knnow its in the works....we all know its here they jus keep teasing us lol..I wont expect a remake until 2010 at the least they wana make sure it wouldn't take away FF13's sales.

I just finished Crisis Core to 100% (at least I think I unlocked everything, minerva was a ****) and It got me all warm and fuzzy with nostalgia. I really hope this is true... Just wondering, If the scene when we "lose" Aerith made so many cry and sob and moan back then, what will it do to us with PS3 quality graphics?

man i'm still playing FFcrisis core. mostly missions. but i would be mad happy if a FF7 remake is coming. a pre-order is in order for that one for me.

I'm sure whoever translated it, made a few mistakes and its about the FFVII collection and not the remake that we all want.

I'm quite tired of going crazy about anything that deals with FFVII, the only things I care about are the ORIGINAL FFVII, Crisis Core, and the movie. Until I hear official words of a remake...not worth it anymore.

I know what the announcement is...FFVII remake...for the XBOX360!!! Why not? They've already taken 90% of the rpgs to it already. Only thing they aren't getting is FFXIII and Versus...SO FAR....

It's crazy; all the way back in 2001, remakes of VII, VIII, and IX were announced to be created for the PS2. Never happened. The VII PS3 tech demo rolls around, and Square-Enix says it wasn't being remade, then a few months after that, they claim is was being remade, and then another denial another few months later. I can't believe how many interviews and articles that have stated "VII is (is not) being remade". This process of denial/claim has repeated about 2, 3, or more times over the years, and now we are here.

We've all been waiting since 2001, just let it happen! I still think VII is definitely overrated *gasp* but along with IX, they are both excellent games that would deserve a healthy revival.

If it is a remake it better be ps3 exclusive. If it goes to 360 we will have even more annoying and baseless rumors of XIII and vsXIII going to 360 and that will be very annoying.

Chances are this announcement will be that FFVII is available for download on the PSstore. You know, not a remake.

I started my ff7 infatuation playing Crisis Core and then i was lucky enough to get the original ps1 game from a friend and now i finally get the craze. I just don't Square, why wouldn't they make an instant best-seller. I read how they didn't want to cause they wanted the original team to take part in it also but like c'mon,ff7 ps3=new pants with deep pockets for Square. FF7 Crisis Core 2 would also imo be a good announcement.

i rekon they will announce it for the PStore.

BUT then again. square should be smarter by now and realised the public backlash they would face by getting everyones hopes up, then slaming us back down.

personally i think it won't hit the 360 b/c it sucks, lol. but they will eventually remake VII, VIII, and IX for ps3. i mean think of how much profit that would make square-enix. who would pass up that kind of cash, not me, but i forsee it making ps3 by end of 2010.

I can't help but think it's got something to do with Final Fantasy Dissidia, which features Sephiroth from FFVII. I dunno, that's just the first thing that came to mind when I read this. Although, he did say it was a big announcement for FFVII, not just Final Fantasy in general.....here's hoping.

Seriously, though, I don't think I could survive if they did announce a remake. I would just die...simply implode with pure joy. That'd wouldn't be good for my health.

I may be off on this, possibly reading the wrong Dengeki interview with Nomura involving DKE3713:


"――With that notion, does ACC have any announcements?

Nomura: The release date will be announced. There is also a big announcement elsewhere, please look forward to it."

I dunno... this is from KHInsider, at least what I found. :\

do they not realize that if they do this remake the amount of people that will buy will up the PS3s marketability.... soooooooo many people will want to buy it for sure. im def gettin it if its gonna come out :)....
