Half-Life 2: Episode 3 Set For PS3

Last year's The Orange Box was a package lovingly created for fans of the Half-Life franchise, but Valve isn't quite yet done with Half-Life 2 (the focal point of The Orange Box).

Episode 3 is coming at some point, as evidenced by the first piece of concept art - shown here - that has been circulating throughout the Internet. If you check IntothePixel's website, you'll see it there, and you'll also see something else: the art is labeled as "Half-Life EP3" and the listed platforms are PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Considering Valve's clear aversion to consoles and obvious PC favoritism, we wonder if it might debut first on the PC. But more importantly for PS3 owners, we're wondering if Episode 3 will once again be better on the 360 (Valve palmed off dev duties onto EA for the PS3 version of The Orange Box), thereby annoying us once again.

Well, at the very least, it appears Episode 3 is most certainly coming to the PS3, and we'll just have to hope Valve does a better job with respecting the PS3 userbase this time around.

Did anyone here play the orange box(ps3)? I was thinking about getting it and just wondering if the gameplay was as bad as some people say it is. I have read reviews that say it is absolutely awful and ruins the game, more so on episode 2...but some say it isn't all that bad and worth picking up. I know it has alot to offer value wise but if it runs like $hit it ain't legit.....

I bought it...but didn't open it because I read some stuff about it. Apparently the PS3 version was "ported" bad and has glitches and freezing throughout the game.

So I returned it.
You might want to rent it.

I have the Orange Box for the PS3 and I think it's great. I was crazy enough to not know if I'd like first person shooters before I bought this, but now I LOVE FPS because Orange Box turned me on to it. Great games and incredible value in the package.

I have to say I am very disappointed in Valve in regard to this. But because I love the HL series so much (especially the latest addition: HL2E2) I'm still going to buy the game. And because I played all of them on the PC, I'm probably going to buy the PC version anyways since I'm so much more familiar with it.

I don't know about any freezing, or any updates. I've had the game for about 3 months now and haven't had ANY problems with it. Quite a LOT of content too as I haven't even made it to Eipsode 1 or 2 yet since the first one is taking me forever to get through. Besides Team Fortress, Portal is a nice addition to the package. I don't know why people are giving Valve crap. Orange Box is great on the PS3!

I read the same things but then also read reviews that said the problems were minimal and the game was solid.

sounds like it may not be as bad as some reviews said...plus it's only like 29.99 at wal-mart....which is why my cheap A$$ just might swoop. Thanks for the info!

I bought it used at Gamestop because Gamestop has the policy on their used games that you can return it within a week for a full refund for any reason as long as you have the receipt. The game was $50 used when I bought it, but I figured if I didn't like it then I'd just return it. After playing it, I had no doubt that it was worth the $50 I paid for it and I kept it.

orange box on ps3 wasnt as bad as people said.
it was playable, and above all, STILL enjoyable.

i think its VERY unprofessional for ANY dev to talk down a platform.

i have always been a great fan of the Half-Life franchise. and have enjoyed all of the games.
but i lost alot of respect when valve simply palmed the orange box off.

i will still play EP3 no matter how bad it is, nor who develops it. but if they stuff it up, it will certainly not be recieving my $100. just $5 to hire it.
