Rumor: Left 4 Dead Headed To PS3

We've probably made it clear in the past that we're not the biggest fans of Valve here at PSXE, but that doesn't mean they're not a talented development team. A game like Left 4 Dead looks great, and if it really does come to the PlayStation 3, we'd be very interested to learn more about it...

Currently, the Valve/EA zombie slasher production is only scheduled for the Xbox 360 and PC, but according to the latest "Bonus Round" episode over at GameTrailers, it's obvious that the game is also listed for the PlayStation 3. Earlier, EA did say it's very possible that Left 4 Dead might pop up for Sony's platform in "winter 2008," and Valve chimed in by saying a PS3 version was definitely "possible." (source- PSBeyond) Based on everything we've seen and heard about the game thus far, this is one title that could turn out to be a fantastic addition to the PS3's library. Alone in the Dark doesn't appear to be the spectacular survival/horror game we were hoping for - based on 360 reviews - so maybe instead of trying that one later this year, we can go for Left 4 Dead! Of course, it may have to compete with Capcom's blockbuster, Resident Evil 5, but, well...we all have our little obstacles to conquer.

As one final note, we really hope that if it does come to the PS3, Valve and EA actually decide to provide PS3 owners with a worthy version. By now, it really shouldn't be that difficult.

I have evaded purchasing "The Orange Box" due to the terrific stories I have heard of poor frame rate and, generally, sloppy conversion ethics behind the games PS3 release. I am still skeptical... so for now I remain skeptical. Maybe if the core Valve team did it to 360 standards it would be worth a look, but if it is farmed out to another 3rd party who do not know what they are doing, then we are back to square one. Interesting to see it was the 360 and PC as the platforms of choice!

Shouldn't that be "horrific" stories of frame rate, rather than "terrific" :-)

Hahs SirWa11ace, nope... I meant it to be "terrific" as a way of using a word that is worse than "horrific" within its context. In other words the "terrific" stories I read where actually horrifying to read... if that makes any sense... it probably doesn't.

The orange box has been patched nicely. Before it was hard to play, now there is only one part in the game that has frame rate issues. Hopefully they do well on left for dead!

I gotta say at this point in time EA has no credibility to me as a gamer. EA has become such a bad publisher/developer that i will avoid them at all costs. Maybe sometime in the future they'll regain me trust but as things are looking right now, it's going to be a while. As for Valve, i'm just thankful that i have a kick ass PC.

Even if it was a flawless "port" I still would have to pass considering all the games I have to save up for this fall.

Ditto Matrixkurt, I too have to be careful in what I pick. That is why I am hard on quality and value for money. I was tempted to purchase both MGS4 and Grand Theft Auto IV, but felt that I could do with out them if I want Call Of Duty 5 and Killzone2. So I decided to let those go, and get these instead. Even GRID... I have played the demo to death but I am still not motivated to purchase it yet... I am not that motivated about "Mirrors Edge"!

Don't buy first, wait for a demo...
