E3 2008: We've Landed in LA!

Hi, folks...I've arrived at LA and have settled in my hotel. This place is pretty snazzy. This year's E3 is the sixth E3 I've attended, having only missed 2006 (which was terrible, anyways). So far I've confirmed my RSVP for tomorrow's Sony conference. Thankfully, final registration for the conference took place in my hotel, so I didn't have to go anywhere once I arrived. Woo!

I still have to go and pick up my E3 badge, it's about a 4 block walk, and I don't feel like walking...I'm storing up my energy for tomorrow, sort of like a Dragon Ball Z character. I'm also scarfing down this delicious burger like no tomorrow. It came with fries, but no bacon...even though the menu clearly says it comes with bacon. And the glass-bottled Coke doesn't even taste like Coke. Ugh.

I'm going to finish my food and head to the convention center to pick-up my badge. Also, Sony's conference tomorrow should be awesome. I also think that they may set up an "arcade" again, allowing the press to play all of E3's PlayStation titles, from first to third party offerings. Cross your fingers!

Hey Arnold. Glad you're there and good to go. :)

Everyone, this guy's an E3 professional. Nobody (GameStop, IGN, or anyone else) will have a better games journalist there. Stay tuned for his hands-on previews and we'll both be standing by to fill you in on tomorrow's Sony conference. You'll know about any big announcements mere minutes after they happen!

right, i think this wasnt a surprise for any of the 2 companies, Sony, blow us away with something. GoW3, Team ICO, heavy rain ( more than just the interview teaser ).

Id say even the announcement of the FF7 redo, but im afraid that wont happen

Got my badge. This E3 feels so sad...you couldn't even tell something was going on in the LA Convention Center. Not a single E3 banner to be seen on the outside.

Pretty sure it's press invitation-only. E3 did have days for the public in the past, but I don't think they have them, anymore...

i think what he means rocketman is that no one really seems to be all up in arms over what nintendo will show, its as if no one cares because they know most of it will be shovelware anyways. Forgive me if im not at all pleased over nintendo's system, i have great reasons.

Could work in nintendo's favor though if something huge is announced

Agreed with Aaron... The Wii I gave a two thumbs down... All their games are;
A) Boring
B) Don't work with the Wiimote (You need ANOTHER addon to play it "Correctly")
C) Waste of my life
and D) Whoever came up with the name "Wii" Has many seriouse problems and should see a Physciatrist IMMEDIATLY!

I hope we get some favorable news. I watched the M$ spotlight and really didn't care much about their lineup except for Resident Evil. But I have to say XLBA is starting to look a bit like the PSN with the scrolling option thumbnails. Geometry Wars 2 looks great but SSDHD still looks better. They got a dealio with Netflix. I am still waiting for Sony to come up with a rent/buy video option on the PSN. M$ even got MGM and Universal to release content for the 360. Does that mean Sony can't have a deal with them now?

@aaron - Thanks, that's exactly what I meant.

I'm trying to tell myself that Sony will have something to counter FF13, but I just don't see it.

I know they're going to show a lot of great games, but as good as they are all going to be, they will not be able to shock like the FF13 announcment did.

That's the bad news, while RFOM2, Killzone 2, LBP, Socom and Infamous will all be great, we all already know, and have seen videos of them.

I don't even think God of War 3 can shock as much.

Who knows?

But... Will a Gears of War 2 coming to PS3 headline shock you??? Will a "Remake of FFVII exclusivly to PS3" Shock you? WILL MY UNDERWARE POPPING OUT OF YOUR SCREEN SHOCK YOU? See, there are plenty of things... that can shock you =.=
