E3 2008: LittleBigPlanet Impressions
In addition to Socom Confrontation, LittleBigPlanet is yet another game that we should've had ages ago, but delays have kept it from us. While we rolled around with the game at last year's show, this year's demonstration showed off mini-games, and a points multiplier system that is utilized in them. The one mini-game we dabbled with had us jumping through holes in platforms that were moving vertically. Over time, the speed at which they moved increased, and we had to keep our character from getting pinched to his demise. There isn't much else that's new to report on the game. The co-operative platforming is still as fun as ever, as following your partner around on user created maps isn't just some temporary novelty, it really does create the potential for a never-ending game. In addition to a skateboard, which we've already seen, you'll also be able to hop into vehicles, as demonstrated in a number of videos and presentations during the day.
LittleBigPlanet continues to impress with its gameplay and concept. The visuals are still as bright and beautiful as we remember them, and the physics make the game feel just that much more intuitive. LittleBigPlanet is still expected to hit its Fall 2008 launch. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
