E3 2008: PlayStation Home Patience "Will Be Rewarded"
Obviously, Sony would never have gone through their entire E3 conference without mentioning PlayStation Home, and SCEA CEO and president Jack Tretton lifted our spirits by handing out some very encouraging words during his speech.
First and foremost, he said this unique online service will be "worth the wait" when it finally launches its open beta later on this year. "Your patience will be more than rewarded," vowed Tretton, and then he went on to say that many publishers have lent their support to Home. This includes the likes of EA, Ubisoft, LucasArts and Activision, plus the non-game-related support from Nike. And then Sony previewed a new Home video: during the video, we saw players jumping into games like Warhawk and Resistance: Fall of Man from within Home, and from what we saw, everything looked slick and accessible. While the full service was scheduled to arrive later this year, we're starting to think the "fully robust" open beta will be almost as good, and we're definitely looking forward to it.
If we can gather up any new Home details as E3 rolls on, we'll post them up ASAP. In the meantime, just be patient...Tretton promises great things!
