E3 2008: Ubisoft Reveals I Am Alive

Okay, so it wasn't just some rumor started by a fan of Jade Raymond's cuteness.

It appears that Ubisoft's secret game, I Am Alive, with Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond at the helm, is indeed a very real project. Ubisoft announced it at E3 as a new survival/horror IP, and it's coming to "current generation video game consoles in spring 2009." The basic premise is as follows- the city of Chicago is broken beyond all repair...but we don't really know why. Even so, the player must find their way through the mess, reacting to everything around them as best they can.

"Ubisoft continues to create new experiences for players and I Am Alive will appeal to anyone that enjoys a thrilling journey," said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft chief executive officer.  "The game will offer a rich palette of emotions while challenging players to make life-changing decisions." (source- IGN)

Of course, they're not about to announce the game without showing off some media, right? Nah, they wouldn't do that to us. Ubisoft provided E3 attendees with the debut trailer for I Am Alive, and we're sorry you weren't there to see it... Oh wait, we've got it right here for you! Enjoy.

Um, yeah it looks good, but what could it be about? As long as I can shoot something driving down the road in my Mustang GT500, I'm good.

This game actually looks quit hopeful after i saw the trailer, I love the whole disaster/survival theme. Now i hope they do it right.

Maybe if we praise this one from the start, they will consider continuing the franchise after one game. By the by, is the Ass-ass-ins Creed trilogy still a no-go?

For now, yeah. If there's enough of a fan outcry for a sequel, though, it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Ben, do Ubisoft not read any gaming forums? I don't know any gamer who wouldn't want to see an Assassins Creed sequel.

As for I Am Alive, that trailer was great. Hope the game is as good.

This looks pretty good. Can't wait to see some gameplay.

btw Ben, do you have a contact email address for Ubisoft so i can ask them why they got rid of anyone there with a brain?
Those guys need to get Assassin's Creed 2 made ASAP. There's some heavy story in that game, they need to get the sequel out now before people forget.
and look here, anytime a Ubisoft game is mentioned someone brings up Creed. It's pretty obvious that there's interest in a sequel.

Sorry, can't hand out that info. :) But I can tell you that just because AC2 isn't in the works now, doesn't necessarily mean it can't be in the future. I think if Ubisoft actively LOOKS for the fan interest they want for a sequel, they'll find it.

They're just not doing that right now.

I get the feeling that once Prince of Persia ships, Assassin's Creed 2 will become a more realisitic possibility. I certainly hope so anyway, that game was fantatic.

I for one don't care about an Assassin's Creed sequal (although I was one of the ones that was awaiting for it since OPM showed it off pre-PS3 and it was still an exclusive) and I know a few of my friends that feel the same.

I just had a real bad experience with it.

At first I hated it, then I got the hang of it, and I loved it, then I realized nothing was going to change, and I got bored and went back to hating it.

This main character looks so generic. I almost thought it was Drake from Uncharted. Can't we get more creative than the roguish white guy? C'mon Ubisoft. You're sharp. I think.
