E3 2008: Super SFII Turbo HD Impressions
This year's E3 was full of games that we were supposed to have been playing last year, as you may have noticed. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (SFHD) is one of them. While certain Xbox 360 owners have been playing the one stage, Ken and Ryu online beta demo, most of us still had no idea what to expect.Well, after sitting down with the game, allow us to tell you what you can expect. It's very simple really: Street Fighter with HD visuals. That, in a nutshell, is just about it. SFHD is a no frills affair, it doesn't take upon itself to make additions or changes to the original, so what you get is the original game, with beautifully modernized aesthetics.
The game will offer an alternate version of the original with moves that are easier to pull off - the mode is clearly meant for beginners. Again, it's hard to really describe SFHD as being anything other than a nearly perfect HD version of the original. I didn't spot any questionable collision detection issues, which is a huge plus when developing a game like this.
I have no doubt that fans of the original Super Street Fighter II Turbo will love HD Remix. I also have no doubt that fans will be pissed to know that the game has been delayed yet again, this time to early Fall. *Sigh...*
