MGO Gets Big Update, New Expansion
Obviously, the biggest update for the PlayStation Store has already arrived this week, in the form of the new downloadable movie service revealed at Sony's press conference on Tuesday. It's up and ready to go, but Sony isn't stopping there: in addition to continually adding plenty of E3-related content, they're also tossing up some great stuff for Metal Gear Online.
Today, you will find the MGO "Gene Expansion" on the Store, which comes in two flavors for all you picky gamers out there. The first is $11.99 and will boast Meryl and Akiba as playable characters, a new Survival Mode, the ability to create a custom female character, plus three brand new maps for your enjoyment (Coppertown Conflict, Tomb of Tubes, and Virtuos Vista). The second version includes all this plus an extra character slot for $14.99. But hey, maybe you only play MGO when you get the chance; you're not an avid player, and you don't want to pay for any updates. Fine, Konami has you covered with other free downloadable content (check the Store), and the team is also updating the game itself.
After today, players will be able to experience the new MGOnline Rewards Points and in-game shop. By playing (and doing well) in tournaments, you will receive Rewards Points, which can be used to obtain new equipment for your character. As soon as you log on, you'll be prompted to download the update that starts this Rewards program, and of course, just like the previously mentioned free DLC, this update is free as well. You just gotta pay for that expansion if you want the full MGO experience.

"SH: You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713 [taking place in Tokyo on August 2 and 3], where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance"
I'm guessing either...
A. Final Fantasy VII remake for XBOX360
or
B. Final Fantasy XIII on xbox360 is really just a spoof, and it's actually going to be an exclusive on the Wii.
Both of the above would be 'shocking'
:P
