E3 2008: Resident Evil 5 Release Date

Maybe they were just waiting for the next time it would be Friday the 13th...

Capcom's next big blockbuster, Resident Evil 5, remains one of the most highly anticipated titles of the generation. However, many sources always believed it would be coming later this year, but those hopes were dashed at this year's E3. According to GamingBits, who noted the line to play RE5 at the show was the longest they had seen, we now have an official release date and the announcement of a special Collector's Edition. The game is slated for March 13, 2009, and yes, that's a Friday. The Collector's Edition should launch on the same day and come with a price tag of $89.99, although we're not sure exactly what's included in the package. You can probably expect the requisite behind-the-scenes and collectible stuff, though, and in the end, all we really want is the game. March 13 may seem a good ways off, but remember, time flies when you're having fun, and plenty of top-notch titles are still scheduled for 2008.

Of course, this date may mean that RE5 could go toe-to-toe with Killzone 2, depending on how close Guerilla gets to that estimated February 2009 date. But either way, it's good to know the great games are just gonna keep coming throughout the winter. More on Resident Evil 5 when it comes to light.

I'm not very much into zombies not-to-zombie thing. RE4 was a refreshner for the franchise, but I never felt I was playing RE. RE5 is something like RE4 on steroids, so for me it will be a rental first

Too many good games coming out this fall/winter. Good idea to wait until next spring.

Except, God of War III is going to blow this out of the water if it comes out in March.

All I know is this... CODV, KillZone2 and GOWIII will be definate buys for me... everything else is a "maybe" and if "I wanna spend the money" thang... I would love FableII to come out on the PS3. Another game worthy of the collection would "The Forced Unleashed", but would need to play it at the store to see if it something I would really enjoy.

Q!

Yea too many good games... But still, I hate the idea of no more zombies... That's the only reason I loved RE games, because they where exciting, zombies are unpredictable... more fun.
