E3 2008: Resident Evil 5 Release Date
Maybe they were just waiting for the next time it would be Friday the 13th...
Capcom's next big blockbuster, Resident Evil 5, remains one of the most highly anticipated titles of the generation. However, many sources always believed it would be coming later this year, but those hopes were dashed at this year's E3. According to GamingBits, who noted the line to play RE5 at the show was the longest they had seen, we now have an official release date and the announcement of a special Collector's Edition. The game is slated for March 13, 2009, and yes, that's a Friday. The Collector's Edition should launch on the same day and come with a price tag of $89.99, although we're not sure exactly what's included in the package. You can probably expect the requisite behind-the-scenes and collectible stuff, though, and in the end, all we really want is the game. March 13 may seem a good ways off, but remember, time flies when you're having fun, and plenty of top-notch titles are still scheduled for 2008.
Of course, this date may mean that RE5 could go toe-to-toe with Killzone 2, depending on how close Guerilla gets to that estimated February 2009 date. But either way, it's good to know the great games are just gonna keep coming throughout the winter. More on Resident Evil 5 when it comes to light.
