Mystery Exclusive PS3 Title Wasn't Revealed At E3
Okay, most of you remember the claim made by BBC journalist Darren Waters several months ago regarding a mystery PS3 exclusive that completely blew him away. The high praise shot through the Internet like a bolt of lightning, and everyone began to speculate: is he talking about Heavy Rain? Maybe Shadow of the Colossus 2? Well, we had no other hints, because he claimed he simply couldn't say anything about it at the time.
At last week's E3, it stands to reason that those who were aware of the comments were hoping the game would be unveiled and that journalist could step up and say, "yep, that was the game I was talking about." However, as you can see over at this BBC news site, Waters says the game he was referring to most certainly didn't pop up at E3. Some thought it may have been M.A.G., the MMO that looks fantastic and will support up to 256 players at once, but it's not. And it's not something we've already seen, like Resistance 2 or Killzone 2. Just to refresh your memory - and start the speculation anew - here's one of his quotes that got everyone all hyped up:
"If the footage I was shown truly is 'in game,' as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion."
Okay, he still swears this project is real, but we have a bad, sneaking suspicion that one of two things is happening, here: 1. he misinterpreted a special tech demo of some kind as in-game footage of an actual project in the works. You'll notice that he says "if" what he saw was in-game in the quote above... 2. he's tryin' to get traffic for that blog. We'd like to think it's not the latter, of course, but you never know. So when are we going to see this game, Sony?

Huh? What's that about MGS4? :P
sorry, couldn't resist^^;
Um... Well... I know I'm definately most likely completely and uttery wrong, and while a remake would mean little to me since I know the whole story as it plays out (so it lacks NEW interest), when SE was asked about Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (ok, keynotes here, ADVENT CHILDREN! not the game, the movie!)...
--------------------------------
1UP: Last week, Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura said that he's hard at work adding new scenes to the FFVII: Advent Children Complete Blu-ray release. Can you give us any update on that project?
Shinji Hashimoto: You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713 [taking place in Tokyo on August 2 and 3], where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance.
1UP: Both of you named FFVII as your favorite FF game. Do you think we'll see more Compilation of FFVII titles?
Shinji Hashimoto: Well, there's Advent Children Complete, of course.
------------------------------------
OK, points there... They were asking about Advent Children, NOT the games, but they avoid the question by saying they'll have something that'll shock fans... When asked if we'll see more FFVII titles, he responds with Advent Children... Um... We've already gotten Advent Children, it's not new... Am I missing something? The last question was about the FFVII characters being legendary in comparison to Mickey Mouse, and they said it was, BUT also mentioned that the kids who are now 15 were only 5 when it was released... Wait... Are you hinting to me that your favorite game was missed by the younger generation, AND you have some huge secret shocking fan news when asked about the advent children movie, but responded that more compilations of VII is Advent Children?
ladies, gentlemen...
I know I'm likely wrong, and I'm digging and picking at this... but...
I SAY THERE'S SOME HUGE FFVII GAME WITH GRAPHICS THAT MATCH ADVENT CHILDREN IN THE WORKS!
... ok, there, I said it...
Enjoy my insane speculation.
of course, I don't know why a Sony PR would have this to show a journalist...

I doubt it was a tech demo that he misinterpreted. If it was, why would the Sony PR guy act like that.
Also, this little story about the Sony's restriction on the info does seem a little too sensationalist for a BBC reporter to have made up in order to promote a blog.
