Square-Enix Preparing To "Shock" Final Fantasy Fans

We all know about Final Fantasy XIII coming to the Xbox 360, so we're not going to continue to beat a dead horse from every possible angle. But damnit, Square-Enix loves to tease, and every time they have done so in the past, the results for PS3 owners have been disappointing. Will they disappoint us again next month?

We heard some time ago that the veteran RPG publisher is preparing a big FFVII-related announcement, and we can expect to hear it at their private DKΣ3713 event in Japan in August. However, here's another angle from a quote from Square-Enix's Shinji Hashimoto-

"You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKΣ3713, where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance."

Oh, so now it's going to "shock" us? We knew going into E3 that Square-Enix wasn't about to make this announcement until next month, so we weren't surprised when nothing FF-related made an appearance during Sony's press conference. But we're starting to wonder...if it's in regards to FFVII and it has nothing to do with "Advent Children Complete," what exactly is it? Are we continually misinterpreting this tease, or what? We're officially tensing for August's unveiling, whatever it might be.

It's probably a Red XIII spinoff...J/K...but if it actually is I'm not wasting my time. I learned my lesson with Dirge of Cerebus.

A FFVII (or FFVIII) next gen remake could change my opinion on whether or not I need to buy a PS3. That is, unless it goes to the 360 as well....

Whatever the announcement is, it is going to be PS3 exclusive. Here is a quote from a Square-Enix rep:
"The Final Fantasy XIII on 360 announcement swung the ball towards Microsoft. At Square Enix's Japan event in 2 weeks, they will swing the ball back towards Sony".

I know I'm definately most likely completely and uttery wrong, and while a remake would mean little to me since I know the whole story as it plays out (so it lacks NEW interest), when SE was asked about Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (ok, keynotes here, ADVENT CHILDREN! not the game, the movie!)...

OK, points there... They were asking about Advent Children, NOT the games, but they avoid the question by saying they'll have something that'll shock fans... When asked if we'll see more FFVII titles, he responds with Advent Children... Um... We've already gotten Advent Children, it's not new... Am I missing something? The last question was about the FFVII characters being legendary in comparison to Mickey Mouse, and they said it was, BUT also mentioned that the kids who are now 15 were only 5 when it was released... Wait... Are you hinting to me that your favorite game was missed by the younger generation, AND you have some huge secret shocking fan news when asked about the advent children movie, but responded that more compilations of VII is Advent Children?

I SAY THERE'S SOME HUGE FFVII GAME WITH GRAPHICS THAT MATCH ADVENT CHILDREN IN THE WORKS!

A FFVII Remake is still Iffy to me...

They could do the game justice or they could end up screwing it up. Recently SE has been disappointing me. I loved FFX and still play FFXI to this day but XII's battle system really messed the series up for me. And all the other games recently published by SE has been mediocre at best. All my hopes lye in FFXIII Versus.

I with we still had good ole' Square Soft, at least then there might be another Parasite Eve (For Consoles).

no, they already admitted that detail in an interview with Kotaku. They said they improved their relationship with Microsoft, which was part of the reason FFXIII is going to the xbox360. LOL

A hint at what the supposedly shocking announcement is? I dontknnow what to think anymore.After I played 7 about 8 years ago and then saw the PS3 demo at E3. Every year from then myy hopes took a hit hoping they would officially announce it......I need a hug lol j/p....I think it will be a FF7 Movie of the original game. Square-Enix announced a remake on the PS2 all the way back in 2001 (including VIII and IX too). They've repeatedly denied/confirmed a VII remake since then. I've got at least 5-6 different gaming mag issues that report this throughout the years since then, so I suppose its day has possibly/finally come!

Lmao it's been 7 years since we've waited for the remake of VII - HAH!

either way i love every Final Fantasy VII title to a point of thinking Dirge Of Cerberus was pretty cool, so anything about FFVII would be nice...as long as it doesnt have the word Xbox 360 next to the announcement.

Well i read somewhere else that DKÎ£3713 is meant to stand for the games they are showing at the party. I think thats only speculation but..

I, for one, have no problems with IP banning. It's not my last resort - one warning is enough.

In any case, when I heard about this a few days ago, I nearly broke down into tears. I think my FFVII remake is finally here. Fall 2008! Believe! An FFVII remake would probably turn the tides around in the console war for good.

what if square enix does give us a remake to Final Fantasy VII than what .................wait Final Fantasy VII remake.............on the PSP!!!! seriously if any one play the recent released Crisis Core game on PSP it would actually be better for the FF7 remake to be played on the PSP so you can ..............take it with you lol but at the end of it all it's just one gamers thoughts

This is it.. The moment we have all been waiting for. FF7 is finally gonna be remade. I am 33 years old, and I have been a loyal fan of SE for 24 years now. I have bought and played every single FF game thru to the end. And in gaming years, im an old man now. But my fondest memories of FF, all seems to flood back when I see announcements like this. I believe.. SE has finally heard the voices of 10 million hearts screaming in unison. Theres not a doubt in my mind, that around this time next year.. we'll finally have it. (Give or take 6 months.. SE loves the delays). An entire generation missed this game, and now they will finally be able to enjoy it as well. Althought theres a drought on PS3 for RPG's.. SE seems to be finally kicking it up a notch.

Ben you've shown the patience of a lion, and the valor of a knight.. but sometimes you just got to dropkick a moth******r. :)

Ok..ok.. So what the hell was the big announcement? Whats supposed to be so "shocking".. They didnt utter 1 word related to FF7 at the party.. Im so sick of SE's crap.. They are doing an excellent job of losing fans and pi**ing off the masses. All they have been doin so far is pushing FFXIII, when asked about anything else, they keep snapping back to FFXIII.. Personally Im not very impressed with the trailer that was on the net for XIII. And whats with this best buy crap. A cruel joke perhaps?
