2K Games: Bioshock PS3 To Look Identical To 360 Version
PlayStation 3 owners are looking forward to Bioshock later this year - and if you're not, you should be - but there are a few details that need to be cleared up.
These come courtesy of developer 2K Games and their E3 presentation of the highly anticipated atmospheric shooter, once exclusive to the Xbox 360. According to VideoGamer, 2K has stated that, despite all claims to the contrary, the PS3 version will not boast updated or enhanced visuals. Basically, they're simply striving to "match the quality" of the 360 version, as senior producer Melissa Miller said during the E3 presentation:
"We're looking to match the quality of the original version. We want to make sure that the water is just as great, and I think you can see from the demonstration, that it looks no different from the 360 version."
In addition, Miller tells us Bioshock PS3 is being "optimized" by Dark Sector developer Digital Extremes, and in the end both the 360 and PS3 versions will look identical. But that shouldn't remain the focal point for PS3 owners, because not only will all the available downloadable content and patches be included in the PS3 version, but 2K also revealed at E3 that the PS3 version will get its own exclusive downloadable content, in the form of "Challenge Rooms." These are "set outside the main story" but still within Rapture, but that's all we know about them for now. Oh, and if you've already played the game but want another go at it on the PS3, you may want to test your finely honed veteran skills with the new crazy hard difficulty mode, Survivor.
So despite what you may have heard, the PS3 version of Bioshock won't be graphically superior to the 360 or PC versions. However, it will most certainly have more stuff. Nothin' wrong with that.

They even point out the fire at the beginning of the game, saying that it felt a lot more real.
So who's lying?

I am always a little concerned about developers who aren't trying to push the envelope with everything they do and the PS3 release of Bioshock would have been a great chance to show the gaming world what they can achieve now compared to when they released it on the 360.
