Online Petition For David Hayter To Write MGS Movie Script

Sony Pictures and Konami are in the process of making a Metal Gear Solid movie, which should excite many a MGS fan. Despite the terrible track record of movies inspired by video games, we believe that with the right crew, we could get a damn fine film. But some avid followers of the legendary franchise believe this can't happen without one key member of the series: David Hayter.

Despite recent news that Hayter would be penning the screenplay, as indicated by a recent IMDb listing, it now seems as if Sony Pictures and Konami want to take more control of the proceedings. Hayter has some impressive writing credits already - he produced scripts for "X-Men," "The Scorpion King," and next year's guaranteed action smash, "Watchmen" - so why shouldn't he handle MGS? The voice of Snake should certainly be involved in some respect, and due to Hayter's talent as a writer, one would hope he would deliver what the fans want: a great goddamn script. There's always the possibility that Hayter will indeed assume the role of script writer for the movie, but to insure that happens, you can play your part.

Here's an online petition you can sign that simply asks the corporate bigwigs to let the right man for the job write the screenplay. We're relatively certain it's not so easy as all that (complications in Hollywood are common, yes?), but it's better than standing by and doing nothing. Sign away, if you agree.

I dont see any reason in why it is necessary to create an MGS movie, when you already know what happens in the MGS series. Thats if you are a MGS fan. But the movie could be useful

I think its a great idea. Besides, this way you don't have to play through all 4 games just to get the story.

Who's to say the MGS movie encompasses all or even one of the storylines in the games? Maybe it'll institute more story we've never seen...

There's one question that i haven't seen asked or answered here, does Mr Hayter want this job?
If the answer to that is yes then he's is the perfect man for the job.
He's even played and completed all the games from what i understand.
And perhaps Guillermo del Toro would be interested in doing something on the monster-like bad guys.

Why David Hauter because hes the voice of snake? forget that if there's going to be a movie Hideo Kojima needs to write it or no one at all!

no offense to kojima, but he would scour the globe looking for the perfect actors which would take a ling time, and his movie would probably be like 10 hours lol.

MGS is Snake and Snake is Hayders' voice. Its very distinct. I cant picture anyone else being casted for the part....he even looks similar to Snake. The script written by him sounds like a no-brainer since he has played the games and knows the world inside and out....not to mention he has extensive experience in writing. I'm sure there are other issues involved namely money and who is getting greased.

I would personally prefer Kojima to write the Movie script but also I agree with Enfildate saying about the length we may have another LOTR film on our hands for length that is that means no drinking or eating before going to see it :L

The thing is the movie studios want to to create an action movie for world-wide appeal so they get more at the box office. Making the movie close to the games or even doing it in cgi for the fans then they have limited themselves to who the veiwers are. I would love the film to be in cg like as if you are watching all the cutscenes continouosly.
