Force Unleashed Demo Set For August

A few avid "Star Wars" fans have been concerned regarding the current position and future of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The recent round of layoffs at LucasArts prompted widespread uneasiness for the highly anticipated game, and there were several rumors that said the game may be postponed or even canceled indefinitely.

But LucasArts turned a deaf ear to the rumors and continued to motor along, and now they're ready to release a playable demo to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace some time next month. As GameCenterOnline shows in this video featuring Marketing Manager Matt Shell, the demo will become a reality within the next few weeks. We will play through the Tie Fighter Construction Facility level, enjoying our special powers as we sample what should be some finely polished action. Something about a "special ending" not seen in the full game was mentioned as well, although we admit to being a bit confused...we're going to see an ending in the demo? And it's an "ending" that won't be seen in the final product? Hmm...

Anyway, we'll let you know when they nail down an exact release for the demo; we're sure many of you will be eagerly awaiting its arrival. "Star Wars" can never die!

This one looks to best the playability of Jedi Knight. I'd like to see the ability to do some mods for the PS3 on this title.

Did Lucas Arts release any trophy support for this one?

No, I didn't play it because I'm REALLY not a Star Wars fan. It's also not my favorite style of RPG, but I know it was supposed to be great.

It's an amzing game. I've probably played it through about a dozen times. They're actually releasing a sourcebook for the Star Wars pen and paper RPG set in the Old Repulic this August due to the popularity of the game.

And I cannot wait to get my hands on The Force Unleashed. This is by far the game I'm looking forward to the most this fall.

By special ending, I'm sure they mean ending to that particular level.

I am a "moderate" Star Wars fan... I like the franchise, however when viewing the films again I do wish certain aspects of films could be re-done. My bane was always the puppets in the bar, they look incredibly false. Even in the remake Lucas did keep those puppets in there whilst using some CGI for the bar singers. The Jabba slug was also CGI at the port which looked better than the animatronic used in other parts of the film. All in all satisfying but at the same time it felt "tired". Parts of the latest three were ok, but in some cases over the top.

Maybe that is Star Wars, an "over the top" space opera, and that is all it can really be. At least the games, past, present and future, give people a chance to live out a dream we will never experience... unless new technologies, yet undiscovered, make some of those Jedi tricks possible... who knows...

I know what most people would want... a light saber :)

KOTOR was alright, even as semi-star wars fan it was kind of daunting for me. Little bro ate it up though.

Bit of a Star Wars fan here so I truly can't wait for this, lets hope the devs have done the PS3 version justice!

I feel the need to throw Stormtroopers against walls, I'm gonna have so much fun 'torturing' them, aswell as other characters!!
