Madden 09 Demo Hits PSN This Week

Most weekly PlayStation Store updates come and go without much fanfare (honestly, how can you have huge additions every week?), but this week, many gamers will have a reason to log on and check the new selections.

EA will be tossing up a playable demo of Madden NFL 09 tomorrow along with the rest of Thursday's scheduled content, and that should come as good news to fans of the long-running franchise. If you want the full details on what to expect from this demo, visit PlayStation LifeStyle and read up on the official information. You shouldn't expect audio commentary in this particular demo, though; EA apparently took it out to cut down on the size of the file. Remember, the game is due out in only a few weeks time, and we'll probably be hearing all about Madden mania at GameStops throughout the country. They usually do midnight openings for each year's installment, and that's because - c'mon, you know the reason - Madden is always absolutely gigantic.

And while we're well aware that many PSXE readers aren't big fans of EA (and we perfectly understand the reasons behind that sentiment), at least this year's title has a shot at satisfying PS3 owners. Last year's 30 frames per second debacle won't be repeated, so at the very least, both the 360 and PS3 versions should be identical. Beyond that...well, here's hoping we get a true next-gen simulator with Madden NFL 09.

well, who knows, there may be something on the store this Thursday that you may download. I wouldn't rule out not going at all, unless you have seen whats to be featured, but it isn't 'till 2 days from now (technically its tomorrow, but who's keeping score) and that could change.

Please. You act like last year's Madden was only a dissapointment on the PS3. NCAA was actually the better football game last year.

The 360 version of Madden was really buggy. As an example, when you cut players they just disapeared instead of going to the free agent pool. Basically, they were lost forever.

On top of that it was basically just a $60 roster update as there were no memorable new features or innovations in the gameplay. They need to improve the franchise as a whole, not just for the PS3.

We know it wasn't great for the 360, either, but we also know the difference between 60fps and 30fps is relatively huge. The PS3 version was certainly inferior, and the REASON why PS3 owners aren't too keen on EA right now is because of things like that last year.

Sorry, but 360 owners have nothing to complain about in regards to EA. At least, nothing that everyone else would normally complain about (lack of innovation in the franchise, for example).

A turd is still a turd. Just cause yours stank more than mine doesn't mean either was worth buying.

I've been a Madden fan since the old 16-bit SNES and Genesis days and I've purchased every version except for Madden 96 (developed by Visual Concepts who went on to do the NFL 2K series for Sega) which got canned on the PS1 (I believe they seen NFL Game Day or EA had disagreements with VC) and decided to wait.

Last years PS3 version was by far the worst version I've played.

I'm looking forward to this years edition and say except for the ridiculous price of $59.99 and $89.99 (Anniversary addition) I really can't complain if it's good. I can't wait to export my easports fantasy team into Madden 09 !

I'm with phade here.....we used to play Madden for hours on the SNES. I really hope Madden 09 delivers this time. It's been a long time coming.

I'm not sure "turd" is the right way to describe Madden 08. I didn't play it, but I'm only going by reviews...and while they're not stellar, they certainly don't fall in the "turd" category.

But the point is, they're a lot closer to said category if we're talking about the PS3 version.

Shockingly...EA is making the most money off the PS3...that's soooo weird lol. Even tho they made worst ports for the PS3...its still selling better on it? Wtf...the whole world has gone tipsy turvy! Exclusives no longer exclusive, EA making bad ports= still more money from the bad port, Uwe Boll made a decent movie(Postal...so i hear anyway) What in the world?!?
