Extended Home Beta For Japan, Namco Museum Included
So our European friends have had the chance to participate in a closed beta for PlayStation Home for quite some time now, and another closed beta - an extended version - for Japan will kick off later on this month. Yes, that means the U.S. is dead last, but at the same time, we should be getting an open beta, which is significantly different.
Anyway, we're expecting many of the features that weren't available in either of the closed beta, and as evidence of that, Japan's beta will be getting a nifty little addition: a beta version of a new Namco Museum within Home. Basically, according to IGN, you'll be playing old arcade classics while wandering about your fancy virtual world. Dive right in to arcade titles like Galaga, Dig-Dug, Pac-Man and more, and they may even include rankings and other community features. More original arcade games "based off Echochrome" will also show up, so we're hoping this will be part of the public beta in North America. The Home service is specifically designed for a new generation, but why not remember the glory arcade days at the same time?
As any new updates for PlayStation Home become available, we'll be sure to deliver them ASAP. After all, games like LittleBigPlanet won't be complete without the innovative online service, right? Sony has already confirmed the public beta will be rarin' to go in the U.S. this fall, so it's not much longer now!
