Rumor: PS3 The Lead Platform For Mirror's Edge, Exclusive DLC?

One of the most promising games of the year is Mirror's Edge, and we recently got a chance to go hands-on with an early build at EA's recent showcase event in New York City.

And now, here's the hottest rumor that has been circulating throughout the Internet: it seems the September issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine will include a very large feature article on DICE's Mirror Edge, and there's one surprising tidbit of information that may surprise some of you... Apparently, DICE - an EA-owned development studio - is using the PlayStation 3 as the lead platform for the game, and they're also talking about exclusive downloadable content for the PlayStation Network. Obviously, we won't be able to confirm this until we see the exact evidence in the magazine, but here's a leaked image that may serve as preliminary proof. If this is true, it means EA is clearly still trying to regain lost ground in the eyes of most PS3 owners.

In 2007, we literally cringed every time we had to write a story involving EA and the PS3, but recently, it has been nothing but good news. Of course, a lot of it is just talk for the time being, but we have to be encouraged by what we see and hear so far...

It's nice to see the PS3 isn't getting shafted again, but i gotta be honest here. The game itself is a wonderful concept and looks really fun for a few minutes, but from the hands on video i saw it looks like the game could end up being repetitive and boring for long amounts of play. Lets hope that the story is top notch and they add more intriguing elements into the game.


EA has been going down hill over the past couple years, this game could either prove to be another half hazard attempt at a new IP or it could be the title to that brings EA out of their downward spiral.

I totally agree on how easily the game could become repetitive. Personally, unless this get near perfect reviews I won't be gettin it. I know DICE are trying to go in a new direction with 1st person free running, but as I've said before the game would be so much better in 3rd person. I mean wall running goes from looking awsomely cool in third person, to tilting the camera angle 90 degrees in 1st. Still, if the DLC is good enough, I might be tempted

The whole 3rd person things probably a bit to Prince of Persia though. It would be cool if they included that option though.

Generally, it is a tough sell... whilst unique ideas are still out there, compelling games in general are becoming more and more difficult to design. There are so many distractions now that holding someones attention for any great length of time is difficult...

Also, when I look at the poultry 5 games that I own for the PS3, I haven't yet really completed any of them properly. I still have plenty to get through...

New titles such as Killzone 2 interest me the most... willing to wait for this and a few others. Dead Space also looks interesting, i wonder then if a games like Dead Space could infact become repetitive... who knows!

Thats a little bit of possible good news. After dropping the ball with a bunch of ports and not to mention the unreleased Left 4 Dead news. This could possibly regain a little bit of hope for them

Yet another story I can confirm as being true. All Mirror's Edge units at E3 were PlayStation 3s, from what I recall. Even the build I played at last week's event was on a PS3. And, of course, I had to ask if the PS3 was the lead platform, and the answer was more or less a yes.

Dice made Battlefield Bad Company. Did anyone else find that the game had loads of noise in its visuals? If you have the game just look at the sky. That should't be normal right? Hope its not in Mirror's Edge

Ben, I know this is a little off topic, but do you think they'll ever make a Crash Bandicoot title for the PS3? I used to love that game on my ps1.
