MGS4 PS3 Bundle Hits #1 At Amazon

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV may have sold more copies, but it has the benefit of being available on more than one console. Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is exclusive to the PlayStation 3, and for that reason, Sony has enjoyed a significant hardware sales surge.

That MGS4 PS3 bundle continues to sell like mad; both WalMart.com and BestBuy.com have reported being sold out of the appealing package, and according to PunchJump, the bundle just hit #1 on Amazon's best-selling product list. After getting restocked, the bundle's sales soared 100% and has been climbing up the charts for the past several weeks. For $499, you can get a 80GB PlayStation 3, a Dual Shock 3 controller, and of course, a copy of the stellar title. If you've already forgotten, Sony will release a new 80GB PS3 this fall for the price of $399; the current price of the 40GB model. For now, if you don't yet have a PS3, there's no better reason to own one than MGS4...which, of course, is why this bundle is so damn popular.

It could be difficult to find as time goes on; Konami did say there would be a limited number of these bundles, so if you've been hemming and hawing over a purchase, maybe now's the time to buy. You know you want a PS3 and you know you want MGS4, so there shouldn't be any sort of conundrum, here.

When the new bundle gets released you think the 40gb PS3 will drop to 299$? I'm bettin they'll have it at 349.99$ and it will come with one Greatest Hits title and a six axis.

No, they have been deleted off of the Best Buy Computers, and we are not receiving anymore as of last week.

I guess the x360 price cut is too little, too late? Maybe this will lure back some rpgs...

sony should really think about a 50-100$ pricecut, cuz if the rumor is true x360 soon will be the cheapest next-gen console on the market.

yeah but who wants a 360 with all the problems, lack of BD, etc etc... when you can spend a few bucks more and get a system (PS3) that won't be obsolete in a year?

I'm glad I have my 60Gig Version, even so if it is a power hungry beast.

PS3 is a good price to buy it at, they're doing their best to cut the prices and just FYI blu-ray is not going down at all. The PS3 doesn't only offer superior gaming, media entertainment and the new generation blu-ray, it has a server processor, the Cell Broadband Engine which is freaking expensive in a way. All in all, its worth the price tag. I paid 600 and was pleased with this monster. I have all the features, as the newest 80 Gig model will not have all the features but will focus more on cutting the price plus pushing people to buy it and getting rid of the stuff that many people don't like and don't use.

They're thinking well and they're doing a great job. 2008 is the year for Sony.
