Ghostbusters Ain't Busted Yet
When Activision decided to "streamline" its Vivendi Operations, several big-name projects got dropped from their publication schedule. One of them was Ghostbusters, which means it needs to find a new publishing home or disappear entirely.
Well, according to a brief ray of hope issued by an article over at The Cut Scene, it seems that Sony Pictures is definitely still planning to release the game at some point in 2009. The official statement on the matter is as follows: "this has presented [Sony Pictures Consumer Products] with an opportunity to reevaluate the game release marketing strategy to potentially coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film in '09." Yes, that's right, next year marks the 25th anniversary of the original "Ghostbusters" movie...makes you feel old, doesn't it? Anyway, we have no further information on this just yet, but it's good to know that Sony isn't about to let the game fall by the wayside just 'cuz it got "streamlined" out of the loop. Perhaps they can get EA to pick it up; they'll pick up just about everything, won't they?
The game remains promising in our eyes, and now all it needs is a publisher who believes in its quality and sales potential. Keeping it under wraps until the 25th anniversary of the film isn't a bad idea, either.
