First-Person Or Third-Person Bond?

We always appreciate it when developers check with the gamers for their ideas and preferences; Activision and Treyarch did just that in regards to their latest Bond game, Quantum of Solace.

The publisher issued a poll asking fans of the franchise if they'd like to stick with a first-person Bond, or if they'd rather try something new in a third-person action game. As it turns out, there really isn't a definitive answer, as Treyarch community manager Josh Olin said the market survey was mostly split. It was about 60-40 in favor of FPS. (source- MTV Multiplayer) However, that's good news, because Treyarch has worked to implement both viewpoints into the game, even though it's "primarily played" as a first-person shooter. When Bond takes cover behind walls, though, the game shifts to third-person, and it will also move to third during certain action sequences as well. Therefore, it seems that you really can satisfy both sides of a debate, even if one side does - technically - get the win.

If you'd like to read more about the upcoming game, feel free to check out our Quantum of Solace preview. You can expect the title to arrive some time this November, and we're hoping it'll be a great holiday option.

Personally I don't care but would probably play more in the first person view if I had the choice.

I wish more games had the option of switching between first and third person. There are times when they both can be beneficial.

Yea, Sounds good if it's designed right, with the automatic camera switching, but also if they allowed you to toggle between the two then that would be pretty cool also. :)

For Bond games, i would really like it to be in Third-Person perspective. First-person for Bond games just don't work.

straight up shooters like Halo, Call of Duty... first person for sure, but action shooters, or something that might be a little more tactical, say... MGS4... Third person has advantages. Over the shoulder 3rd person though, GRAW2, RE5 style though... Ugh... Can't stand those, but that's just me.

Least they're trying something to make both groups happy though, maybe it'll work out well.

I would PREFER every FPS game to have the option to be 3rd and vice versa.

Agreed. For instance Mirror's Edge. I don't actually like the idea of the 1st person view in that because free running won't be as cinetematic as it would in 3rd. However, there will be some people who find the a 1st person game thats not primarily an FPS refreshing...therefore, both views would be ideal

I think having it switch from fps to tps would make it a bit jarring.

I would choose third person. Played too many bond games in first and what I've seen so far with this game, I like third A LOT better! Having both is a little cumbersome for the player me thinks.
