Downloadable PS3 Titles Confirmed

Microsoft certainly wasn't stingy with the Xbox Live Arcade details at their X06 show last month, and Sony is following suit at this year's Gamer's Day.

Sony has released the latest details and information regarding several games, which will be part of Sony's online initiative. The following list of games are the first on the list, and while you may have seen them before, this is the first time they're comin' at ya all official-like.

Beyond the previously announced flOw, there are five other first-party titles on Sony's "to-do"list. Those games are, Blast Factor, Go! Sudoku!, Criminal Crackdown, Lemmings 2, and Go! Swizzleblock2. Below are details regarding each game; no prices or release dates were announced for any just yet.

Blast Factor

Supports: 1080p, Sixaxis tilt sensitivity

This one takes a theme similar to the film, Inner Space and has the player move through a "specimen," continually targeting and destroying deadly viruses. It appears the game may be similar to the popular XBLA title, Geometry Wars, although with an admittedly different focus. Gamers will also be able to compare their ranking online against other PS3 owners, and the difficulty level will adapt to any player's skill level.

Go! Sudoku!

For those of you already familiar with the pencil-and-paper game, this one requires no explanation. But in this virtual version, each puzzle will boast animated background and a soundtrack, both of which actually alter based on the player's actions. The game will support up to four players at once, and Sony has announced that you can download "up to 1,000 puzzles." If even a fraction of the original game's popularity rubs off on Go! Sudoku!, it should fare well.

Go! Swizzleblock2

Sony has described this game as a PS3 revision of the "classic cube-swapping puzzle game." It follows the familiar formula of several block-based puzzlers, which has you match colors to remove all blocks from the screen. Like above, this game also supports up to four players for either co-op play or competitive team battles, and individual gamers can tackle challenge, puzzle, and time-attack modes. There is an odd "hallucination" option (it turns blocks into animals), which must be unlocked...it's a weird world in Swizzleblock.

Criminal Crackdown

Supports: 1080p, Sixaxis tilt sensitivity

God of War creator David Jaffe is working on this one, which is described as a vehicular-based multiplayer party game set in a cartoonish environment. The purpose of the game is to have players take control of a bounty hunter who scours the streets for bad boys on the lam. There will be four levels of gameplay, more than a few weapon power-ups, and over 10 rides.

Lemmings 2

Supports: 1080p

It's the classic age-old franchise revisited; that addictive little game where gamers lead those perpetually lost (and mindless) creatures towards salvation. This version will include 40 new levels featuring dynamic lighting, all of which support the high-definition 1080p resolution. New to the PS3 edition of Lemmings are cloning and teleporting machines, as well as online leaderboards.
