FFXIII Demo Longer Than Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Well now, this changes our view of things...quite drastically.
At Square-Enix's special private party event last month - the oddly-named DKS3713 showcase - most Final Fantasy fans were desperately hoping for the official announcement that a sequel to or remake of Final Fantasy VII was in the works. Sadly, that announcement never came, and the biggest news of the event centered on the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo that would come with the Blu-Ray release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" in March of next year. So some of you were all disappointed and said, "oh, yippee," with a very sarcastic tone of voice. Yes, we know what you wanted, and that wasn't it. But are you aware how long this FFXIII playable demo is supposed to be...?
Clearly not, because if you were, you'd stop being sarcastic and suddenly become very excited. Yeah, some demos in the past (like the Heavenly Sword demo that clocked in at under 10 minutes) have been exceedingly short, but this demo most certainly won't be. As a frame of reference "Advent Children" is 101 minutes long, but the demo, which will come on a separate disc, is reported to be longer than the movie! The latest Famitsu has supposedly confirmed this, and furthermore, we learn that the demo will "be based on the opening section of the game," unlike the FFXII demo that came with Dragon Quest VIII. If that's not incentive to pick up the "Advent Children" Blu-Ray Collection, than absolutely nothing is. You just ain't a FF fan.
Now, all of a sudden, we want to hear a great deal more about that demo, and we're salivating at the thought of playing two hours worth of FFXIII in March!

Excuse me for a moment.
*fanboy squee*
Yes everyone, that was a fanBOY squee, and no, it was not sarcastic.
I still remember the FF XII demo. It was so short, but it was so very good. To have two hours of FF XIII goodness amazes me. If it is anything like the FF XII demo, errrrr....words cannot describe.....Amazing. This was the big news. Sweet dude.

F!! XBOX and F!! SQUARE ENIX!!. how dare they release final fantasy for the crap-box what is wrong with them? I already sent them a letter telling them they have lost a loyal fan. But what really fried my bacon was when the announcement that Star Ocean 4 will be released on Crap-box. the thrill of knowing that I am playing a game that those little whiner fanboys of the crap box cannot play, is gone. Screw S.E. and screw micropenis.

wouldnt using up a whole blu-ray disc just for a demo be a waste of space?

anyways... this is a must-buy, as long as the 360 version is crappier, i'll be laughing myself silly and the 360 owners will wonder why DVD doesnt math up to Blu-Ray and why a DualCore doesnt match up with the Cell Broadband engine and why their standard controller doesnt match up with dualshock 3... muahahahaha
Bic and Watties will soooner make a game console than xbox 360 is greater than ps3.

I believe Transformers has already been announced on Blue Ray.
@ Pavlovic
"If that's accurate I don't think that the demo will be available on XBL."
I keep seeing users commenting on 360 owners getting a FFXIII demo too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Square won't be developing the 360 version of FFXIII until the PS3 version is complete. Therefore, 360 owners probably won't get a demo until much later than March 2009. Unless SquEnix puts a development team to convert the PS3 demo code to 360 code, the PS3 demo won't rund on the 360. I don't see SquEnix devoting resources to this so 360 owners get a demo in March 2009. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
