PS3 News: FFXIII Demo Longer Than Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

FFXIII Demo Longer Than Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Well now, this changes our view of things...quite drastically.

At Square-Enix's special private party event last month - the oddly-named DKS3713 showcase - most Final Fantasy fans were desperately hoping for the official announcement that a sequel to or remake of Final Fantasy VII was in the works. Sadly, that announcement never came, and the biggest news of the event centered on the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo that would come with the Blu-Ray release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" in March of next year. So some of you were all disappointed and said, "oh, yippee," with a very sarcastic tone of voice. Yes, we know what you wanted, and that wasn't it. But are you aware how long this FFXIII playable demo is supposed to be...?

Clearly not, because if you were, you'd stop being sarcastic and suddenly become very excited. Yeah, some demos in the past (like the Heavenly Sword demo that clocked in at under 10 minutes) have been exceedingly short, but this demo most certainly won't be. As a frame of reference "Advent Children" is 101 minutes long, but the demo, which will come on a separate disc, is reported to be longer than the movie! The latest Famitsu has supposedly confirmed this, and furthermore, we learn that the demo will "be based on the opening section of the game," unlike the FFXII demo that came with Dragon Quest VIII. If that's not incentive to pick up the "Advent Children" Blu-Ray Collection, than absolutely nothing is. You just ain't a FF fan.

Now, all of a sudden, we want to hear a great deal more about that demo, and we're salivating at the thought of playing two hours worth of FFXIII in March!

If that's accurate I don't think that the demo will be available on XBL.

A great deal for all the FF fans... thank you Square Enix?

I don't know if transformers is coming to Blu-Ray man. It would have to go through another printing and I don't really see it happening unless a combo or something comes out with transformers 2.

Transformers is supposed to be coming out I think September? So yeah, Michael Bay already said it in his blog awhile back and considering he was backing the bluray back when hd was still around. So yeah he was quite pissed about that. No worries tho we'll get it soon enough

Excuse me for a moment.

*fanboy squee*

Yes everyone, that was a fanBOY squee, and no, it was not sarcastic.

I still remember the FF XII demo. It was so short, but it was so very good. To have two hours of FF XIII goodness amazes me. If it is anything like the FF XII demo, errrrr....words cannot describe.....Amazing. This was the big news. Sweet dude.

So maybe that explains why its on a blue ray disk. I'm only hoping that the demo will have save spots. So when the final game is released, we all can load up that save data, instead of playing through 2 hours again. Now how about a demo or a release date for Versus, or is that to much the ask for?

Well this is a rather nice suprise, NOT!!!
F!! XBOX and F!! SQUARE ENIX!!. how dare they release final fantasy for the crap-box what is wrong with them? I already sent them a letter telling them they have lost a loyal fan. But what really fried my bacon was when the announcement that Star Ocean 4 will be released on Crap-box. the thrill of knowing that I am playing a game that those little whiner fanboys of the crap box cannot play, is gone. Screw S.E. and screw micropenis.

hey man cheer up, the 360 isnt THAT bad... its just that the ps3 makes it look like a piece of garbage... Sqaure-Enix is just greedy for money... and lazy if they ant be bothered enhancing the game for dual layered blu-ray...
wouldnt using up a whole blu-ray disc just for a demo be a waste of space?

Why did they make it for 360? i think they are just money greedy! and how much money did they earn from the past 12 games and several other spinoffs?
anyways... this is a must-buy, as long as the 360 version is crappier, i'll be laughing myself silly and the 360 owners will wonder why DVD doesnt math up to Blu-Ray and why a DualCore doesnt match up with the Cell Broadband engine and why their standard controller doesnt match up with dualshock 3... muahahahaha
Bic and Watties will soooner make a game console than xbox 360 is greater than ps3.

of course its about money. If its supposed to be an exclusive and all of a sudden the 360 gets its greedy hands on it....yeah most definitly money WAS the factor no matter what kinda bs they try to tell you.

damn, your right Ben...this does make me change my opinion...temporarily atleast cuz who knows if this'll be an exclusive demo just cuz of the PS3's blu ray capabilities or if it'll be available for the XBL marketplace. Pretty cool tho nonetheless

@ Advent Children

I believe Transformers has already been announced on Blue Ray.

@ Pavlovic
"If that's accurate I don't think that the demo will be available on XBL."

I keep seeing users commenting on 360 owners getting a FFXIII demo too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Square won't be developing the 360 version of FFXIII until the PS3 version is complete. Therefore, 360 owners probably won't get a demo until much later than March 2009. Unless SquEnix puts a development team to convert the PS3 demo code to 360 code, the PS3 demo won't rund on the 360. I don't see SquEnix devoting resources to this so 360 owners get a demo in March 2009. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Im not getting it Ben but I'm still a FF fan! I personally think that would be dumb in my opinion because who would want to play through the same part of the story twice?(the demo then the actual game) if they make it where you can transfer your save then maybe but like i said its my opinion.
