Street Fighter IV Launch In February?
Last week, we learned that a Street Fighter IV arcade machine had been spotted in a Los Angeles suburb, which immediately sparked more debate regarding a release date. Well, maybe we can expect it in February (which isn't that far off).
According to a GameDaily interview with Patrick Aiello, producer for "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li," the "film and game release dates will coincide." A quick check of IMDB shows the movie is set for a February 27, 2009 release in theaters, which means Street Fighter IV ought to show up right around the end of that month, yes? We believe the game will be great, but we have our reservations about the movie...you may recall the joke that was the last "Street Fighter" film. But at the very least, Kristin Kreuk makes for an excuse to see the new movie; she adopts the lead role of Chun-Li, and that oughta work out nicely for many teenage boys out there. We're not sure of the competition just yet, but "The Legend of Chun-Li" is going to have to turn some heads to rake in the box office cash.
As for the game, we had hoped to see it by the end of 2008, but clearly, that's not going to happen. And if it does drop in February, we are very well aware of two other titles - Killzone 2 and God of War 3 - scheduled to release right around that time. The latter will likely get pushed back but Guerilla's shooter should be out, which means SFIV is gonna have to kick much ass in order to compete. But we have faith!
