GC 2008: Quantic Dream Reveals Heavy Rain Info, Trailer

Yes, yes, we know you all want the Heavy Rain trailer Quantic Dreams just showed off during Sony's press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention. And we have that for you below, but it's our job to give you the intro, first.

As we reported earlier, the game's director, David Cage, would be officially unveiling his promising project, and that's exactly what he did. "After being silent for a while, we're proud to be in Leipzig," he stated to kick off his presentation. He then goes on to pique everyone's interest by saying Heavy Rain will feature "serious and mature content," and it will be a "very emotional experience" with the player being forced to make tough "moral choices." Perhaps not surprisingly, the game will be very story-driven, and there will most certainly be effects and repercussions throughout depending on your decisions. Oh, and there are "no guns, cars, interfaces, puzzles, or enemies," and yet, this game is most certainly not for kids. ...are we talking about breaking entirely new ground in the video game industry? And just before the trailer pops up, Cage reminds us that Sony has been "very supportive" of their efforts in making this game for the PS3.

Actual gameplay footage is shown, and there's a rainy town suffering from an oppressive dark - and nameless - evil. It's extraordinarily atmospheric, and everything is in real-time. We don't want to give away too much in the writing because you'll want to see this for yourself, but suffice it to say that you will be most pleased. The trailer ends with the message "Heavy Rain 2009," which isn't exactly surprising but still good to know. Oh, so you probably want to see the trailer now, huh? Okay-

I believe I read that Heavy Rain is a horror game of all things.If it is a horror game that makes it even more interesting and surprising than I had anticipated!

Seems pretty scary, hopefully the whole gameplay is played out with just those button presses. Im sure that wouldn't happen though.

Wasn't too amazed by it. The graphics looked great but the button pressing thing is getting old to me. No shooting, puzzles or enemies? Then who was that freak trying to kill the girl?

Yeah, maybe. Personally, I think it looks amazing.

And I love fresh, new ideas. I just hope it's not TOO close to the same old button-pressing gameplay mechanic we had in Indigo Prophecy. Really, that's the only thing that kept that game from master elite status, IMO.

I dont understand why people are saying there is no "shooting or puzzles" you saw a 1 minute trailer that showed off a particular portion....every shooter puzzle action adventure horror game dosent make you do all of those things at once....

Have you ever heard of a game where you control the movement of the character with the R2 trigger and the movement of the head with the L1 button, well quantic dreams is on about that for this game, they also say there will be no Game Over, also the game will have over 60 scenes.

This looks Awsome....As long as it isnt endless button smashing and has a freeroam type enviromen(which im betting it will)this game just might be a true evolution in gaming.It will stand out in this generation as the true Seamless interation game truly merging movies and games into one!(MGS4 came VERY VERY VERY VERY CLOSE!!Lol but the installs really snaped me out and brought me back to reality.Though I thank Konami for the instals cause if they were never there I mabey would of gotten sick or had siezers for those 10pm-4 in the morning hour long MGS4 seesions lol)

i dunno if i wanna get silent hill, its not very hyper and the gameplay looks very dull compared to MGS IV, Gears of War and other 3rd person viewer games.

Gameplay footage :S . That was sh** if it was gameplay. The graphics are fantastic, but gameplay looks sh** as alone in the dark.

The button system for actions is a bit weird cuz it seems like you don't really have full control of your character but I dunno...it still looks like i'm gonna preorder it lol, i'm always up for new ideas.

God of War had moments of timed button controls so I don't think people should start assuming that the whole game is going to consist of this.
