SCEI Announces PS3 Wireless Keypad
Well, it's another nice peripheral for a system that continues to be on the upswing.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has officially announced the Wireless Keypad for the PlayStation 3, which conveniently plugs into either the Sixaxis or Dual Shock 3 controller. It will be released in North America in November and in Japan, Europe and Asia by the end of the year, and will come in handy for anybody who wants an easier method of chatting online. You use this instead of the on-screen keyboard, and the Wireless Keypad will even support text chat in the upcoming PlayStation Home service as well. All you need to do is connect the Keypad to your controller with the USB cable that came with the system, and you're good to go.
This special Bluetooth device also features two shortcut buttons - one for Communication and one for Message Box - which will allow you to switch between pre-set features the Cross Media Bar. But it doesn't end there; we'll even get a Touch Pad Button that lets all users "use the entire surface of the keypad as a touch pad." Slide your finger around and control that arrow in the browser, just as you would on a laptop. LittleBigPlanet will be one of the first PS3 titles to support text chat, and as soon as we have an exact release date and a price, we'll tell you all about it. The big day for Sony news continues. :)
