Wipeout HD Zips Onto PSN This Fall
We've been waiting for a release date for Wipeout HD for quite a long time now, and we were disappointed to learn the estimated launch time had been downgraded to "coming soon." However, circumstances have changed. Thankfully.
Joystiq confirmed with SCEA producer Daimion Pinnock that the highly anticipated futuristic racer will arrive some time this fall. That's a great deal better than the dreaded "TBA" label, and it adds another relatively big title to an already loaded autumn lineup. It may just be a downlaodable title, but Wipeout HD should be an impressive technological accomplishment. It will boast full 1080p visuals, Dolby 5.1 surround sound, 60 frames per second gameplay, splitscreen, 8-player online play, Sixaxis and Trophy support, and yes, even custom soundtracks! This is guaranteed to be one of the most significant additions to the PlayStation Store's library, and if you were a fan of previous installments, you can't possibly pass on this one. And even if you're new to the franchise, aren't you a fan of mind-bending, smooth-as-silk speed?
When they nail down an exact release date for Wipeout HD, we'll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, our anticipation level for this one just jumped a notch.
