World At War Releases In November?
Towards the end of 2007, Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare absolutely decimated the competition and raked in hordes of Game of the Year nominations and awards. This year, Treyarch hopes to do the same with Call of Duty: World at War.
And we may have more of a concrete release date, too. According to Joystiq, the guys at Only the Games cornered an Activision PR representative at the X08 event in Toronto, and he said World at War would arrive November. Activision remains firm on their stance that the game still has a "fall 2008" release, but hey, November is part of fall, yes? If this November estimate is true, it means the new Call of Duty effort will likely go head-to-head with the likes of Resistance 2 and other high-profile titles, so Treyarch had best come through. Many questioned the move to return to the traditional World War II setting after Modern Warfare did so unbelievably well, but from what we've seen and heard so far, Treyarch knows what they're up against. They know full well how high the bar is, and what they'll have to do to satisfy gamers: make the best damn WWII shooter ever. They've even admitted it.
So, come November, we should be seeing Call of Duty: World at War on store shelves, and provided titles like Gears of War 2 aren't drawing our attention, perhaps we should give it a try. We're guessing it'll be well worth a look, at the very least, and even you CoD4 fans may come away very surprised... Perhaps this really will be the best WWII FPS in history!

I still don't understand why they didn't do 'Nam.
Yea it was one of the wars America didn't win...but it wasn't so much that they lost as it was a Stalemate between the two forces.
It would have offered great jungle warfare with the tunnels underneath.
It would have offered City warfare too.
To each their own.
