Killzone 2 Patch Adds Co-Op, Vehicles

With all this talk of Resistance 2 coming in November, a lot of PlayStation 3 owners are losing sight of another little fact: Killzone 2, another extraordinarily promising PS3 FPS exclusive, is scheduled to launch just a few months later in February 2009. And hey, just to rekindle any interest or hype that may have been lost amongst the recent Resistance 2 uprising - thanks mostly to E3 - we've got an update for you.

According to FeedOnPS3, a patch will come very soon after Killzone 2 releases, and it's not one of those relatively insignificant stability patches, either. No, this one's big: it'll add co-op mode and vehicles for online play. Furthermore, we learned yesterday that bots will come with the game (no patch needed for that), and perhaps best of all, they're fully customizable. If you need to ask what a "bot" is, you're either much too old...or maybe much too young, and we'd rather not branch off into a description. Let's just say they're like AI-controlled characters, okay? Moving on, as Guerilla hinted at earlier this year, we'll also get free downloadable content throughout the first part of 2009. No word yet on what it might be, but you can probably expect the typical; more online maps, new game modes, new vehicles and/or weapons, etc.

We do expect to see a finalized release date for Killzone 2 at some point, here - another delay would be demoralizing - but we'll settle for the good ol' "February 2009" for now. After all, we need plenty of time to absorb Resistance 2.

Don't bother playing the first Killzone, just watch the cut-scenes on YouTube. They were probably the best bit of the game anyway.

This game is getting me more excited as I hear more about it. Hey, if anyone knows please let me know, but is the multiplayer online going to be one person only or is there going to be the option to have "guests" join you? Also, does downloadable co-op mode mean we have to pay in order to have a friend pick up a controller and play with you or just play with another person online? It would be great to have a good FPS to play splitscreen that isn't Halo. Sucks that CoD4 doesn't have that option.

you can play cod4 in split screen up to four players i think. and co-op - you can complete missions as a team with other players that own the same game.

The only thing I hope they do is launch with a good product. Too many games launch and get shitty reviews because key things are missing like Co-op, later on, only to be added via patch but too late for the mass to know and care because reviews have destroyed the game already. Mostly if they know Resistance 2 is going to ship with Co-Op, they better damn well have it on launch too because their going to get compared to R2 left and right.

Hey guys, this game is one Im really looking forward to it and I watched every single video on it. So seeing all of them and reading a lot, I did stumble on a release date and as far as my memory goes it was official. It was Feb 28 or 29. Sorry I dont have a link but I promise I saw this and it was legit :)

I thought the first was a lot of fun. Don't know why people didn't like it.

I don't think we have to worry about any delays. The game was supposed to come out this fall, but Sony didn't want to release two similar exclusives at the same time.
