Killzone 2 Patch Adds Co-Op, Vehicles

With all this talk of Resistance 2 coming in November, a lot of PlayStation 3 owners are losing sight of another little fact: Killzone 2, another extraordinarily promising PS3 FPS exclusive, is scheduled to launch just a few months later in February 2009. And hey, just to rekindle any interest or hype that may have been lost amongst the recent Resistance 2 uprising - thanks mostly to E3 - we've got an update for you.

According to FeedOnPS3, a patch will come very soon after Killzone 2 releases, and it's not one of those relatively insignificant stability patches, either. No, this one's big: it'll add co-op mode and vehicles for online play. Furthermore, we learned yesterday that bots will come with the game (no patch needed for that), and perhaps best of all, they're fully customizable. If you need to ask what a "bot" is, you're either much too old...or maybe much too young, and we'd rather not branch off into a description. Let's just say they're like AI-controlled characters, okay? Moving on, as Guerilla hinted at earlier this year, we'll also get free downloadable content throughout the first part of 2009. No word yet on what it might be, but you can probably expect the typical; more online maps, new game modes, new vehicles and/or weapons, etc.

We do expect to see a finalized release date for Killzone 2 at some point, here - another delay would be demoralizing - but we'll settle for the good ol' "February 2009" for now. After all, we need plenty of time to absorb Resistance 2.
