Rumor Return: Crysis Plus Expansion Coming To Consoles
We have an idea: instead of using that pink bunny in Energizer commercials, why not just post pictures and headlines of video game industry rumors that absolutely never die? Crysis coming to consoles would be near the top of the list, that's for sure.
This time, it's PSU claiming an inside source says Crytek plans to release the high-tech FPS for the Xbox 360 in "Q4 2008 - Q1 2009" and for the PlayStation 3 in the time period between "Q1 and Q2 of 2009." The source goes on to say the developers are taking their time with each system, especially the PS3; they're "learning to utilize the Cell processor as effectively as possible in order to push higher quality textures, improved AI," etc. Yeah, well, we've heard similar statements before, and the last official word from Crytek is that they are making a game for next-gen consoles, but it's not Crysis. But on the other hand, if this rumor turns out to be true, the console versions will boast new content courtesy of the Warhead expansion. We're not about to say "no" to that, now are we?
We'll let you know if Crytek steps up to shoot down this rumor one more time, or if they actually do announce Crysis for the PS3 and 360. The competition will be stiff, what with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2, but that's okay. Most gamers will say, "the more top-notch FPSs, the better."
