Rumor: Max Payne 3, GTAIV Team Working On PS3 Exclusive?

While we're always in the business of providing reliable, up-to-date news on anything PlayStation-related, we have to admit that everyone snaps awake when the word "rumor" accompanies a report. So raise your hand if you like a good rumor. 'raises hand' I do, I do!

Enter EGM's Quartermann; he's at it once again in the October issue, as detailed by 1Up.com. Quartermann isn't always right - that's why it's called a "rumor" - but if this information is true, it's going to raise a lot of eyebrows amongst PlayStation 3 owners. First of all, it seems that despite Remedy Entertainment spending all their time with Alan Wake, Max Payne 3 is still in the works. Rockstar has taken up development duties; the same team that gave us The Warriors is at the helm, and that's good news. But the second part of this rumor is even bigger: apparently, EGM has word that Rockstar is "still hard at work on an unannounced PlayStation 3 exclusive." The team behind this mystery project is the team that gave us Grand Theft Auto IV, so, yeah...crazy stuff. If it's true, what could they possibly be making?

Check out the October issue of EGM to read all this for yourself; it should be coming into stores this week. Obviously, we will now be scanning around for any info concerning a supposed PS3 exclusive being made by Rockstar. You can bet on that.

Isn't Knights of the Old Republic a BioWare game? Correct me if I'm wrong. But thanks for reminding me about that series, I'd completely forgotten about it. Hope we do see a new KotOR game in the future.

I don't believe that they would work on an exclusive game. Why would they? After seein all the money GTAIV made on multi platform. I'm seriously not understanding that rumor at all. But Max Payne 3 sounds kick ass!

well, i think ps3's capability is very great, but they overdid it a bit and thats why 360 is still winning.
as long as ps4 isnt the first to use holographic disc technology, theyll be fine.
one HVD drive=$15,000US (projected)
blu-ray is a disc between HD-DVD and HVD

I remember this rumor from a while ago, actually. I don't know the exacts, and my old memory is getting a bit faulty and is in need of a 16oz/gig Red Bull upgrade, but I can faintly recall someone asking a Sony rep -- one of the big dick guys in the company -- about GTAIV not being exclusive, and him asking the questioner something to the effect of, "How about a new IP exclusive to the console from the same developers?" Am I wrong on remembering this?

Hey john its true Rockstar is working on an Exclusive game for ps3... and its not L.A. Noire that game is being made by Team Bondi and if it seels well on ps3 Rockstar will buy them off... thats the plan... the game is still unknown but it is a ps3 Exclusive... it should be at by fall 2009 or 1Q 2010..

yeah they did alright with gta4, i think game creators should make at least one ps3 exclusive, 360 exclusive and a multi platform.
they did gta4 and that bully game. so i wonder what theyll do with the ps3 exclusive and i dont know whether they hav a 360 excl.

I'm gonna have to agree with that Max Payne 1 was definitly better than 2, 2 might've LOOKED better but definitly not better. 3 might be good tho if they do it right...hopefully.

I highly doubt that out of any team out of teams out there, that the GTA4 team would try to stay exclusive. I say BS on that rumor and/or timed exclusive if ANYTHING.

You guys need to learn how to read. It states that Rockstar is making Max Payne 3, AND a PS3 exclusive.

Max Payne 3 is NOT the exclusive, sorry every post I read, read it wrong.

This is good to be hearing news on this. I've also heard that a RS rep also suggested that all future GTA's will be exclusive to the PS3. I don't have a link and it's just a rumor, but feel free to google it.

This is essentially just an extension of the rumor from last August. http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/1673.html About Sony "taking Rockstar under their wing" (likely with development tools, basically giving them all the advantages that their second party studios, such as Insomniac receive). But this one is also combined with the rumor from last September. http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/1613.html Where an "unannounced exclusive" from the guys behind GTA was under development.

The fact that this has finally popped up again makes me optimistic at the chances that this is true. But I can't get the pesimism out of my system entirely. It seems like this guy couldn't find anything else to print so he reached into the vault. I just hope that the GTA4 team is working on SOMETHING. Be it GTA5, something else, or what ever; I don't care if it's an exclusive I just love these guys games. I also hope that even if Sony did pull their support for LA Noire (http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2766.html) that the game is still in development in some way or another (again, exclusive or not) it's just TOO good an idea to give up on.

And while I'm digging up old-ass Rockstar rumors, I really hope this (http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2264.html) turns out to be true. Before EA gets their hands on Take 2.
